Social media disappointments:

  1. Journalists are still actively participating at exTwitter, thereby actively supporting Musk, who is helping extremists bring down democracy and, by extension, a free press.

  2. Reddit got away with stomping its volunteer moderators and users, and its execs are cashing in on an IPO that in a more just world would have flopped.

  3. Writers I respect decided to stick with Substack despite arrogant, extremist-friendly investors and leadership.

Perennials get mulched with it and annuals get a fresh start each year with compost mixed in the native soil unless it's a melon, in which case they get mounds of 100% compost. And in my compost is lots and lots of used Starbucks coffee grounds...note that native soil is on the alkaline side.

I'm getting increasingly annoyed by 's rogue move when I step away from the computer to eat a bite of lunch, come back to resume scrolling the feed, but when I click on the Like button, the goddamn thing takes it upon itself to autorefresh and the post disappears heavily buried in the stream never to be seen again....AND in my settings I have the refresh turned completely OFF.

I'm straight but I can appreciate what's natural. There are feral cats in my 'hood and there's been a trio of toms that weren't competing, and looked like they were actually best buds. Then I'd seen them cuddle together. One of 'em disappeared last year, likely trapped & turned in to Animal Control, but this year it's a trio again, but the new member is female and it looks like one of the males is actually bi. Fancy that.

I know some of you totally hate all #CountryMusic. I grew up with mostly old timey & some contemporary country music because my Mom enjoyed that & pop music. Dad was more of a blues & rock person. Mom discovered Alan Jackson in early 90s. She loved getting Dad, me & my brothers to dance & sing along to Itty Bitty, at our past annual BBQ Summer backyard bash, before we started yard games fun.
I miss dancing with my Dad - he only danced with Mom & me - his whole life.
