Serious question. Are there any users (especially ) who are curious about switching to or trying ?

I've been toying with the idea of making very specific well done training videos to support that.

But not sure anyone cares.

I just installed a PCIe Wireless card in my Thelio, but realize I have NO idea how to check if it's actually using it.

How can I check which wifi card is in use on , i'm running if that matters

I'm so tired of VSCode randomly breaking on me. users, I want to join you. Is any Helix user coding in

I just need to get over setting that up. Any tips? Is it just adding languages.toml to my helix directory?

I'm curious, peeps, is there a gui updater that basically just does a nixos-rebuild switch --upgrade.

And allows a user to upgrade to the next stable release? Thinking something my dad could use

Well, today is my first full work day I've committed to using the as my main editor, and not opening VSCode!

So far, it's a little clumsy, but already seeing some workflow improvements. Just need to put in the reps!

I've noticed on 44, the tray icon status extension doesn't seem to work. So when I use , I don't see the icon.

Im running 23.05. Is this a issue with the extension, or is there a gnome 44 trick?

Oofff.. question. I have this 2011 iMac that will only boot to a live usb with "nomodeset"

And I can install linux from it. But then I can't boot into it. And I can't get to the grub menu to add that param.

How can I install linux so it's just on nomodeset, or somehow make the graphics card behave?

It's an iMac 12,2

Just did a physical clean up on my Gen6 x1 carbon .

I've used this thing daily since I picked it up cheap on eBay as a test to see what the ThinkPad love fest was all about.

Gotta say, best $250 I've ever spent!

Okay... sooo it turns out that my Tray Icon extension in is fine.. but for some reason isn't putting the tray icon there.

It works in Plasma, Cinnamon, and even sway, but not gnome.

Anyone on gnome 23.05 having this issue? Icon cache? Ideas?

Ok / users, I'm almost there with joining y'all. But I'm having a hell of a time just getting basic stuff like a file browser / search and find.

I just want to replicate control p in vs code and search. Telescope seems good but breaks my code folding. :(

I don't get it people. There is this whole big drum banging about how the language is immutable.

Yet, here in the most basic example, "a" has 3 different values in the same session.

That seems pretty mutable to me! So in what way is this language immutable? Help me understand!

Well looked slick, installed well. But steam was broken on it, even after reboots and updates. Not really a great for a gaming machine.

So trying out

If that causes issues, I'm going right back to

Do any live stream their coding sessions? Thinking about this as a way to share but also personally stay focused.

Does do this, or is this more a twitch thing

Curious about how to take an "expired" Chromebook and make it into a NixBook?

Wonder no more! This was a fun project, a great up-cycle, and a great little intro into

Just got my brand new @system76 .

I have a 3 year old Thelio and it's still amazing and striking. This is even better.

Thelio is such a great example of a company that just iterates on something continuously to make it better.

Well done.

Ok.. I have a question.

I'm trying to install SublimeText4, and I keep getting this error about an insecure package and cant' seem to figure out how to allow it.

error: Package ‘openssl-1.1.1w’ in /nix/store/qbjk4md1rmjhv9rx0iaixqyhrdhwkl4c-nixos-23.11/nixos/pkgs/development/libraries/openssl/default.nix:223 is marked as insecure, refusing to evaluate.

Well, that was fast!

I'm sorry, but eat your heart out, Mac mini! This little ryzen7 beast cost $400 and came free next day delivery. Came with 2 diff length HDMI cords, and a mounting bracket.

Plus, bios instructions on the back and even a little pull tab to HELP you open the thing up.

It's even packaged nice. 10/10 so far.

Let's see how it runs. #beelink #amd #linux

And another quick / question. What's the experience like for users with maybe unstable internet connection.

Can they still view the page their on? How does the page degrade when you loose connection to the websocket?

Ok peeps, need advice... I want to introduce my brother to the wonderful world of mechanical keyboards, but he prefers the microsoft natural keyboard type.

Not fully split separate, but single keyboard with the split.

Is there a mechanical version of this?
