Hey, is there anyone in #Leipzig or at least germany who thinks they are able to fix my bricked #oneplus6 and #oneplus6t ? I have multiple and I managed to brick them all after experimenting with #postmarketos and #gnomemobile for a while. I don't know how I managed to so consistently brick them.. I tried some stuff recommended on xda devs and other forums but never got them to work again.
Does anyone know good audiobooks of anarchistic literature? Preferrably for free as a stream or download. Was looking for Rudolf Rocker but any fundamental literature would suffice.
I have a lot of time to listen to podcasts and little time to read currently but want to dive more into anarchist theory.

So today I discovered Wizard Zines by @b0rk - a person I appaerantly have been following on fedi for a while without realizing what amazing content they create!
The concept is short comic magazines (zines) on topics around coding and working in tech that you can read as pdf or print out yourself. There is a colection of free ones and others you can get for a reasonable price (with a discount if you live somewhere with a weaker currency than US dollars iirc)
Shoutout to a great foss app I used for the first time today: Parabolic! It is a beautiful and simple video downloader for youtube developed for linux with the gnome desktop in mind. Used it to download my lectures and while it's interface is clean and minimalistic it is actually quite powerful, giving me all the options I need to bulk download videos!
Also shoutout to the GNOME Files bulk renaming UI! I wanted multiple file names to start with the same text so I just selected them all and hit F2, not really expecting anything to happen. You can imagine my surprise, when a pretty powerful and easy to use dialogue popped up and just allowed me to do exactly what I wanted. The Gnome apps are really coming along greatly!
What happened to the cool light variant of this wallpaper in #gnome45? I kinda liked it a lot, the updated one doesn't match the style of the dark wallpaper for me and I just don't like it that much. Can I get the previous version back somewhere?
@ebassi I guess that won't work here because I fell in love with a work-in-progress wallpaper for gnome45 that got changed before the final release (apparently, I'll check out the git repo later)
Rebased my #silverblue install to #fedora39 to check out #gnome45 ahead of its release. "Rebasing" is such a scary word compared to how incredibly easy and safe this was - just rebooted and there it was. If anyone is not yet convinced that #immutableLinux workstations with atomic upgrades and painless rollback are the future, you should try this!
Read #C code. There are no books that will teach you what you will learn from looking at code: the patterns and idioms. You'll get to know what is common practice, what makes readable code and what makes you recoil in horror.
Learn data structures: Linked lists, tries...

@der_istvan I would read a good book first, C is so small that it wont take you long. There are a few details is better to understand from the start, like reading complex C declarations, differences between arrays and pointers and integer promotion (and implicit casting).
Like in all languages is also important you get familiar with the standard library.
Then, like other people said, is all about reading a writing code. Take samples from your main interests (i.e. Quake if doing gamedev)

Has anyone experience with transporting a newborn by bicycle? I researched a ton and am truly surprised how nontrivial it is. My main question is: at what age did you start transporting them by bike and with what equipment? My kid is just a month old now but I really would rather not want to rely on public transport until she is 6 months.
@der_istvan Yes. My first kid we started transporting around 4 months old, the second when she was around a month old. We used an infant car seat inside of a bakfiet (a #cetma)
@der_istvan as someone else said, we deflated the tires a bit for a smoother ride. The floor of the bakfiet had a foam pad, and we ratchet strapped the infant seat to the floor.
And of course we skipped any ramp and staircase jumps 😉

I wish I could get my #op6t to work again so I can flash #postmarketOS with #gnome and try all the hot new apps coming to #flathub these days that would look great on a smartphone!
This weeks highlight for me is Fretboard by @bragefuglseth
@pi_crew I think I have resolved this problem now, by removing a cursed filler hack I used to dynamically change the centering of the chord diagram based on the screen size. The new solution, using AdwClamp, is a lot cleaner. If that was the problem, Fretboard 2.0 should be perfectly usable on mobile :)
I bricked my oneplus 6t (codename fajita) recently and have not yet been able to recover it. My current last resort seems to be using the MSMDownload Tool - but I don't have access to a windows machine (just linux & macos)
Does anyone have a link to good instructions how to unbrick my op6t without needing to install windows on my laptop?
@gregorni pretty sure. Is the DEVICE STATE on the fastboot screen the right indicator for this? But I did unlock the bootloader before and had postmarketos successfully flashed to the phone
@der_istvan Well, I saw a thread on the XDA forums about a guy who had the exact same problem as you because he had re-locked his bootloader. But I think you would remember if you had re-locked it.
