If were real, it would detect cats showing up near a laptop or keyboards, stopping everything such that no inputs would be possible until the cat moved away. I'll refuse to believe any AGI is real until that time.

    I use Mastodon for public scholarship, because that is one of the main benefits I see to public/open social media. It's how I used Twitter and I've definitely benefited from other people using social media this way.

    But in my experience, Mastodon is 'splainy AF, which is exhausting. Just this morning, a gentleman decided I would benefit from an explanation of GIGO, FFS.

    So, while I never insist on titles, I'm going to include mine in my display name for a while, to see if that helps.

    @NaturaArtisMagistra AI isn't a being, it's a tool. More accurately, Augmented (human) Intelligence. Using it cures the fear of it. Don't reject the bicycle because it's weirder than walking.

    @Snowshadow @NaturaArtisMagistra and AI isn't supposed to replace the human artist. That's as meaningless as saying the word processor will replace the human writer. Even the art bots were written by human coders and humans have to start them, tend them, and get them out of trouble.

    Make no mistake, cats domesticated us, not otherwise. They're the most useless creatures in our species' history yet we still keep them around (they only catch mice when they feel like it). What is that if not them domesticating us?

    Add to that: Mrs. Davis. It's absolutely fantastic, cannot recommend highly enough. It's just SO weird, and each episode manages to get weirder.
