Phew, the second (maybe third) pretty big stand-alone #Python library (first was a script rather) that I wrote at my job within the last 12 months. (Not that common anymore.)
Each took roughly 1 month until v1. Each 1k+ lines of code. This time very #TDD style (the script not so much, because it was a one-off — well, two-off ;)
Tochter will #Python lernen.
Habe zwar keine konkreten Lehrmitteltipps (kommt drauf an, was sie machen will.
In #html (or any #programming language I guess), do you prefer to close an element before adding attributes and contents between, or do you do the attributes and text first and close the element last?
@Kovatoro close first. I don't do this consciously, but I guess I'm working under the premise: The amount of time in which a script/document is (temporarily) syntactically invalid should be minimized. Or: from outside to inside?
Logitech? More like Laggytech.. Or why I much prefer wired mice over wireless ones. Why doesn't Logitech make the MX Master with a cable? Or at least allow the charging port to carry data too, so it can be used wired and wireless?
Is it bad that "nedbat" means scars in Arabic, overlook (verb) in Czech, don't care in Serbian, decline in Norwegian, reckless in Romanian and negligence in Ukranian?
@nedbat fwiw, I (slowly) phased out one of my old online nicks when I learned that it’s also an acronym for a pretty ugly disease. Actually, I still have it in very few places.
(really just meant as a side note; nedbat is fine, especially since it's based on your real name, which my nick was not.)
one of my IRC/gaming nicks was me randomly smashing fingers on my keyboard
early social media nick was based on album title of favourite band
then this album title, but shortened (which was also the disease 😔)
then boring name + birth year
the "next gen social media" nick was thoroughly brainstormed
in practice this one got shortened again; so a nickname of a nickname 😃 – and pretty established in a small niche of the web, some folks would call me that IRL
Oh my… usually not doing non mentions but I have to assume that this argument was in bad faith. It was about raising parking costs and banning cars from public spaces would result in "Cars only for rich people".
Now I may be living under a rock but IMHO everyone who can afford a car already, and at my place it's more like 2 or 3, is a rich person. Personal transportation on that level is a freakin luxury!
Is my privilege check broken? Are cars really considered basic amenities nowadays?
@bekopharm In Germany I'd say yes. A small/moderate-sized family car is considered an amenity by most people. (Note: We, 4 people, don’t own one. Living in a big city.) Under some circumstances I’d even agree with that; but I also know that many people, who own 1-2 cars and say they could not live without them, never even tried; so often they are more of a convenience than a real necessity.
(Speaking without considering the global view here, where your privilege check is def. more than right.)
@Daojoan I demand a reality where everyone has to live on a maximum of 10× minimum wage (or 50× — discussable; I think some argue expected lifetime × minimum yearly wage as a max. wealth after which 100% is taxed) all the time.
Not premature optimization (which is often focused on “clever”/fast solutions, not necessarily more structure), but the tendency to (overly) structure code before it is actually necessary. E.g. having a multitude of files and a directory hierarchy when a couple of flat files would still suffice?
@henrikjernevad@flowchainsenseisocial I probably expressed myself badly. I meant not "bad refactoring" afterwards, but unnecessary (imho) structuring beforehand actual working code is written.
@CTD One of the Slab Serifs; from the most famous ones, maybe Garamond? When sick with a sensitive stomach a piece of dry Courier New (or Writer) works well. For a long trip a pack of durable Inter.
