I’m saying it again: Mastodon is the only place online I feel safe posting whatever I like. It doesn’t even have to make sense. It doesn’t have to be correct. It can be long or short. I can just post, privately or publicly without too much thought to it. It’s been a tremendous thing to my mental health in general.

@rolle Yeah. For all the talk of "freedom of speech absolutism" at a certain other place, taking down all the moderation guardrails on a social media platform in pursuit of that ideal, can so easily lead to the loudest and brashest people effectively being the ones with the greatest "freedoms"

I feel like I can be more "freewheeling" in how I express myself over here, if anything

Tried to give a chance as a potential / #X alternative, but the “vibe” there is just a bit too... random, for me?

Maybe I’m following the wrong people on there, but I’m not yet feeling utterly hooked to that place in the way I could be with the pre-Elno birdsite at times

Plus, my faith in any remotely top-down/centralised platform is kinda shattered at this point. Still feeling that Masto is my likeliest long-term microblogging “destination”

One of the hallmarks of a true Hipster Mountain Ski Rental is the self-consciously quirky record collection. I have no idea whether any of these were selected for the music on them or for the album covers, the juxtapositions or what. Though the speakers are clearly chosen for their mid century look and not their sound

Edit: my client isn't showing an alt text editor for the fourth photo 🤷. It shows a Country Funk collection, Wham, Neil Diamond and Third World

While I’m on a thing with The Best LP, it’s worth noting I also picked this up from the same record store today. The final Q-produced MJ single, an observation that can be made of the A-side and both B-sides

Even better, offered the owner replacement Twitter accounts that were actively being used. 🤦‍♂️
