I know Chile owns Easter Island/ , but it still seems weird to see " , ." I suppose it's the same as "Hawaii, USA," but today's so developed and has such a strong white footprint that it doesn't strike me as hard, though I imagine it hits Hawaiians like a club.

A friend of mine who's says she and many of her friends prefer independence to statehood for because they've seen the effect on and aren't interested.

I find all the articles about setting reading goals so puzzling. My "reading goals" come naturally-- to enjoy the four plus books I always have going at once--1 (or more) fiction, 1 (or more) research/history, 2 (or more) dharma-related for small group discussions. I love reading!
And then there are the audiobooks I listen to on long walks...

@CandaceRobbAuthor @bookstodon I think for people who are trying to get (back?) into the habit of long-form reading they make sense, or to read more and watch less video and scroll on social media less, but I'm not a goal-setting person. I just keep lots of ways to read around me, and I read when I'm able.

Been raining hard here in SW Alameda County CA for a few minutes. I hope enough fruit has set in our regional orchards. But I'm always okay if the smell gets knocked off the Bradford pears. I've long called it the spooge tree, might not be the only one:

I was going to take time off social media after my campaign for Congress, but the guy I lost to just voted for a budget that strips UNRWA funding—ensuring the further deliberate starvation of 2 Million Palestinians.

Cruel, soulless, & barbaric.

Taking time off from demanding justice is a luxury I can't afford. Stay tuned as we continue to build, because the work for justice can't wait.

but he's wrong. Plenty of Democrats are pro-Israel, Swalwell is nuts about them.

That said, way too much damage has been caused by removing leaders of other countries. Netanyahu is dangerous, but we need to get over making decisions for other countries. They can do it themselves, and one would hope, lose our support if they continue this genocide.
