As a recovering alcoholic I spend a lot of time trying out mocktails and NA beverages. Rarely do I find one that blows me away. Non blows me away. We tried No 7 at Del Popolo in SF and immediately bought more. These are pricey. Like a decent bottle of real wine pricey. But very, very worth it. https://www.non.world/

Watching the media layoffs (not talking Blucker Blarlson, I mean real journalists) and feeling so sick.

I feel like I've seen this over and over, companies slicing journalists and expecting remaining ones to work twice as hard.

And yes, it's the companies' fault, it is.

But many are losing revenue because no one wants to pay for good journalism anymore.

@DamienMarieAtHope I wish there were an ideal year or condition at which it's best to establish boundaries for reversion. How far back do we go?

I'm thinking beyond just Russia, but globally, in terms of expansion or colonialism of groups or nations into other spaces, e.g the British isles, northern Scandinavia/ Finland and the northern Crusades, all the back and forth around the Ottoman empire and expansion of various religions, the growth of China, etc.

So Bluesky has its first outright Nazi member and not a real strategy on how to handle that. You can’t block users, only mute them so it leaves the community in danger that you can’t outright stop that user from seeing you.

This is where these systems fail, when they are so scared of censorship they put users in danger.

I wish were better in some areas for sure and I'm not sure he's the best but I think he's probably the best combo of "someone who is running so far" and "someone who is most likely to beat the GOP challenger," at this point.

's support of new oil drilling is unconscionable at this point.

But ultimately, he's an ever-so-slightly left of center (though I'm not even sure where center is anymore) capitalist who has a wide range of endorsements and votes to rake in over the next 12–18 months, and though I might express my feelings more loudly in the primary in the general I'll throw my vote at the one most likely to keep the GOP out of office.

A programmer makes a scraping bot. Makes it opt-out. The tool floods numerous websites with aggressive bandwidth requests.

When asked to change how the bot works, he tells the people complaining—led by well-known developer Terence Eden—that they’re getting in the way of progress and that his bot should be treated like a person.

Can we talk about how incredibly awful this behavior is?

Confession: I have been on that Other Site for the last few hours talking about Tucker Carlson and Don Lemon because ... well, this is a good example of why I do miss search here. I want to see what people are saying; I want to know the latest reporting; and, yes, I want to quote-tweet NYTimes Pitchbot. Now it's OK if the community of Mastodon decides it doesn't want to be a key place for news but I'd regret that. And I'm not speaking so much as a journalist but as news user.

I'm expecting/hoping for another wave of folks over here as requiring the paid to vote in polls and eliminating legacy blue checks hits Twitter. will die otherwise.

amazing how flare affects mindful social media use. It only occasionally touches clicky clicky Twitter but when I'm sore and want to use mastodon carefully it's hard. is really hard on executive function.
