One of my most controversial takes over the years has been regarding creators upset about the term "content" being applied to their art.

I'm just taking a moment to re-up the idea that art and content are not mutually exclusive concepts. Not all content is art, and not all art is content.

But there's an easy way to determine whether something is or isn't "content." Just ask one simple yes-or-no question:

Was the work produced under contract at the behest of a content distribution company? If yes, then it's content, no matter how artistic it is.
