There's an interesting thing I notice. A lot of times I see post on fedi that say "I'm not antisemitic a lot of Jews agree with me" or similar.

Here's the thing though, if you need to invoke the jews because you think you sound antisemitic the intent behind whatever you're saying is probably coming from a different place than your tokenized Jews. And you are antisemitic.

Even if we agree.

If you don't have proper N-95 masks, now is the time to pick some up, and build a Corsi-Rosenthal box. It's edging towards summer, which means fire season, and it's already started in Canada. If you don't want to be inhaling smoke and particulate matter, get your protection ASAP. Wear it everywhere, your lungs will thank you.

A 3yo thread I'm reposting from Xitter:

On I think about the Jews of Švihov, whose torn Torah my shul was gifted with. We say Kaddish for them even though, for many of them, their first or full names are lost and we only have a last name or, at worst, birth year.

Only their Torah survived, and that was defaced. The shul is currently working to have it restored. But even when we first received it, almost 2 years ago, we gave it pride of place.

With the Torah comes a mandate to continue to remember the Jews who once revered & taught from it. Who were killed while their scrolls were warehoused by Nazis.

And also to continue to teach the world what hate can do & why people of love & solidarity must ALWAYS intervene.

I've been crying through this whole thread. Our Torah represents a whole village killed, whole families. Some of them were only small children.

This is why my shul takes its anti-racism and anti-hate work so seriously.

At the end of the original thread, I posted a link to our synagogue's website so folks could read more about the town, our scroll, and the program more generally.

That is no longer possible. The site is now members-only because it was spammed by so much anti-Jewish hate.

One weird thing about coming back to work after 20 years is that 20 years ago the Second Intifada was going on and I was protesting against the Iraq War.

So here I am, sitting at the circ desk like I was then, reading news about , , and like I was then, and trying not to get swept away by a feeling of powerlessness and déjà vu.

We're in Maine for our vacation. I'd hoped that, a year on - and with a door between us and the cats this time - we'd be able to sleep, but no. Pip is especially needy, and was either screaming and batting at the door handle or, if we let him in, walking over us ceaselessly.

I'm going to need a vacation after this vacation just to catch up on sleep.

One of the funny things about indexing books about Albert the Great is that you have all these entries and subentries like "Arabic sources, Albert's use of," whereas usually you use someone's surname. It sounds so informal.
