My mood has rallied now, but I haven’t been so up and down in one day for many weeks. It’s quite exhausting and scary but right this moment I feel peaceful. No need to cook tonight - we’re still quite full from lunch so we’re just going to have some cheese and crackers and fruit

@purplepadma sorry, I’ve been a bit hit and miss on here - just catching up. I’m sorry you’re feeling a bit rudderless. Enforced rest is a tricky balance isn’t it, you maybe want to be doing something, and to have structure, but don’t need the pressure of doing something. You’ll be ok and figure it out though, I know it 😊. One day at a time. Hugs.

Headed up to Emsworthy Mire nature reserve (my happy place) on Dartmoor early this morning because cuckoos! I don’t think it’s possible to not see or hear them there at this time of year. My taking a decent photo of one is another matter though.

Common redstarts and willow warblers aplenty, also curlews and, heard but not seen, snipe and a nightjar!

While sitting quietly on a rock with my coffee, I watched this beautiful roe deer mooching about. Here it is looking past me towards some people with a very barky dog (I gave them some hard stares too!). It came to within 15 metres before it eventually clocked me and leapt away into woodland.

@sheepnik that is good! I can’t remember in which country that’s a standard response to ‘how are you?’. That or ‘I’m not dead’. Hopefully not thinking of working at full speed tomorrow? Going back too early is the mistake most of us make.

A throwback to two years ago and this wonderful wild garlic-lined bridleway. It was part of an absolutely cracking 15 mile walk I did from Kingsbridge to Dartmouth on a perfect May day. Need more of those now!

Also, there is someone sat at the bus station, smoking. It seems so uncommon now, I forget how revolting the smell is. Can't remember the last time I was bothered by an actual smoker (rather than someone vaping, which also smells bad but differently so).

@RolloTreadway yes, even from being in the office!

In my ‘gap year’ I worked for the ministry of agriculture etc (a girl knows how to have fun!) and whilst could no longer smoke at desks there was a smoking room - its internal walls had huge windows, basically a goldfish bowl full of smoke. Obviously that’s where all the cool kids hung out so…

The smell of stale smoke was awful.
