When a crab comes across a new shell that turns out to be too big, it waits nearby until another crab comes to inspect it. If it's too small for a second crab, they hold claws and form a queue until a crab who fits it arrives, then the next crab in line claims the newly-housed crab's shell ... "

There are some wonderful people who go around offering empty shells to hermit crabs in exchange for the plastic litter (bottle lids, film pots etc.) that they’ve been using. Offering them a choice 🥺.

Just had this message from a friend and I am raging! “Think my running journey is over... Didn't make it2 10k as ran past a man who whistled at me & then stuck his foot out. Couldn't dodge it fast enough so went flying. Not sure I'll have the confidence to go out again

I have been cat called so many times running, and once a young man slapped my bum from behind and tried to pull me into the bushes, but I think this is worse. Why the fuck is women feeling powerful through running something men feel compelled to try and take away?

@purplepadma @DamonHD I was just trying to find words to reply to your previous reply but I can’t. It’s just awful. I really hope your friend is ok after this. I can understand if it puts her off running but I hope not. And I hope the man that did this is traced…and before he does it again.

I have spent ALL afternoon thinking, texting and talking about my birthday weekend. It is a complex operation getting everyone where they need to be, getting rooms decorated, food prepared, enough glasses and cutlery, non-alcoholic champagne as well as the real thing… I have discussed napkins, bunting, balloons, cake stands, place cards, sashes, desserts, train times… it was a great distraction from the anxiety but now I feel mentally exhausted. So I’m going to join a journaling session then cook dinner

@JimsPhotos the chiffchaff is like ‘SPRING’! And I absolutely love it for that. But after a while it’s just ‘oh another chiffchaff’. The willow warbler is much more musical. I’ve been listening out, but haven’t yet heard one this year.

I’m out, out, out! And sheeeeps!

I stopped at a gateway to say hello and they all ran over to me with much baaing. I apologised for getting their hopes up that I might have food, but there was nose booping and head skritching.

The lambs were more interested in play.
