I mean the amount of toxicity in the FOSS community ... there are some nice people, but when you've got people like Linus Torvalds (who I'll admit has got a little better over time) running major projects ... well, all I'll say is it feels like there's a lot of monkey-see monkey-do.

all scenes have toxic people but it seems like FOSS has them in spades.

@philpem i just feel like i've been waiting to hear from epidemiologists what the actual PPM infectious number is, and i've... not? it may be that such research is something that varies with the different strains and that it's evolving so quickly we can't measure it effectively or something, but i just... feel like i haven't heard this particular statistic

Are there specific things/fears you dont want to deal with like (just examples!) gore or slimey looking special effects?

I really like horror, sorry to pepper you with questions before giving any suggestions haha

i'd suggest as a cheesy starter: 1999 House on Haunted Hill. it's just bad and goofy and very 90s and unlikely to scare anyone over the age of 3.

1999 was like a golden year for cheesy horror, honestly haha.

then, if you do watch 99's HoHH, take a step back in time to the Vincent Price original House on Haunted Hill. is it scary by modern standards? not one bit. is it iconic and still a lot of fun? oh gosh yes.

if you're not afraid of blood i'd suggest Get Out as a GOOD horror film. its tension is almost all social interaction between characters, with very little overt violence (til the final reel) and really good pacing that lightens the mood with humor periodicly.

if you want something legitimately scary, i swear by Noroi. it's a japanese false docu-drama about a curse that is an amazing blend of western (found footage style) and japanese horror aesthetics. but it IS scary! beware!

While some may think the true marvel is that reality tv show Ghost Adventures is still running

I think the real thing worth celebrating is that when they have trans ppl on the show theyre treated exactly like we want to be treated. Like people.

Theres never a hint of mockery or snark or criticism from the regular cast & crew. Considering theyre such a bro crew, thats a feat.

something funny i noticed on fedi is how polls work!

apparently if you're on an instance that blocks a buncha other instances that, say, spammed your poll results? you dont see the results those people contributed to. they're excluded from the final tally.

but someone on another server that doesnt block those instances viewing the poll -will- still see their numbers in the final tally

so how you read a poll could give you a wildly different outcome, depending on what corner of the fediverse you're residing in lmao
