Vivek is just the latest example of a dog whistling Republican grifter in love with his own self-image. How on Earth did this country ever get infected with this many worthless shit bags with delusions of grandeur?

@shoq My friend, that may be the most perfectly worded sentence anywhere!

“They’re exchanging scripted zingers, written by dimwits, for the benefit of morons”. Chef’s kiss!

More on growth mindset interventions, and why targeting teachers may be just as, if not even more, important as working with students.

Thanks for your efforts to make the world a better place through research Jeff! A teacher I am coaching just told me that they hide their mistakes! Among interventions, I shared this post with them.

Lends itself to thinking about the connection to confidence. Smith did research on student confidence in terms of opening up higher level courses, my focus has been on what an educator's confidence enables them to do (or not). How much finger pointing in a district - ie: "They're not a team player" "They don't help" and such comes from the space that they want to help - but afraid they'll do it wrong, or they'll get in someone's way.
Thoughts?

It’s not a glitch. It's a feature.
Conservatives do not want to raise kids that possess critical thinking skills.

A diverse array of books gave me a level of empathy and a wider world view than I would not have otherwise gotten. They aim to prevent that from happening in other kids.

There is an all-out attack on education occurring.

HISD's Mike Miles will convert some libraries into discipline areas-

Why hasn’t anyone decided to merge retirement homes, children’s homes and animal shelters?

A large house where older people teach young children about life and take care of abandoned animals together.

In this arrangement, everyone would be a winner.

@ienvision@tmi.community avatar

@Strandjunker MA has a school district that did almost what you’re suggesting. They built a new complex that houses a state of the art HS as well as Senior Citizen center. When we finally get away from white supremacist thinking of either/or and consider both/and, we may be fortunate enough to see more projects like your brilliant suggestion https://www.smma.com/work/inter-generational-learning

Social media companies better learn how to curate, fast. Luckily, there's new to help them, by Arechar et al (including @Drand among others). Check out my discussion of that research and what it means for social media in my (still free!) !

Doing future predictions is… hard. Humility paired with knowledge is pretty good, though.

ienvision,
@ienvision@tmi.community avatar

@teachpaperless In Starry Messenger, Cosmic Perspectives on Civilization, Neil deGrasse Tyson writes, “...knowledge grows exponentially, not linearly, rendering our brains hopeless in our attempts to predict the future based on the past.” When it comes to AI, electricity, microchips, fire - his statement is spot on
