    @RickiTarr it’s about access to health care information. if they regularly see a provider and can ask questions about the vaccine and have confidence, more likely to get one vs. not having access and asking Dr. Facebook for advice

    Maria Dahvana Headley's new translation/rewriting of Beowolf is like seeing it in a whole new light. The depth of meaning and beauty of her word choice made me shake my head in wonder more than a few times.

    I think there are two major historical parallels for the climate and political crisis we're in.

    The first is the late Renaissance, where all the scientific elite knew that the official description of the world, as based on the Bible and Aristotle, wasn't true, but the official line denied this, because it undermined the basis of the social order.

    @Alice recently on a date i was rushed paying the bill and was so mortified that i’d calculated poorly and left a bad tip that i ducked into a bathroom and worked it out on my phone: 15.6%. still felt cheap but acceptable. impressed with self’s crunch math skills, but will never date again
