My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

Another acrylic painting from 2004. It was commissioned by a publisher for a book called "Being There," but it was never published (as far as I know!). It features Stegosaurus and Diplodocus.

into 2004. I always prioritised palaeo-work, but I was never going to pass on an opportunity to illustrate 5 DUNE covers, by Frank Herbert. Crazy thing was, the publisher accepted & published my colour draft drawings & paid me in full anyway!

Been on a big monster book kick and picked up Helicoprion by Micheal Cole. I am not to far into it before I realized I never knew how Helicoprion used its word jaw to hint. Doing some quick research it seems my brain image of the shark is from the 60’s and more modern interpretations has a saw blade like lower jaw, not a toothed appendage.

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

This large mural project, at the Dinosaur Isle Museum on the Isle of Wight, made my freelance income enough to keep going into 2002.

While I was on the Isle of Wight, I also appeared in Live from Dinosaur Island, on BBC2.

Did pollinate some ?
This is an idea I've had which is explained below, but there are some caveats to this, one of which being a lack of corresponding/ conspecific female organs also with suitable anatomy. Thoughts?

Today's random portfolio artwork is "Bait Ball," an old painting from 2009. It was created with ye olde acrylic paint and paintbrush, and airbrush for the background. Originally created for the Museum of Jurassic Marine Life, UK, but it has been all over the place these past 14 years or so.

Today is the 200th anniversary of a Geological Society meeting where two amazing events occurred. The first named dinosaur, Megalosaurus, was described while, simultaneously, the first complete skeleton of Plesiosaurus was revealed to the world. What a day for vertebrate palaeo!
