Image is whats on twitter now. All tweets about their propaganda, silent censorship, silently censored, removed. Twitter is no longer a social media site.

The last image was the Canadian Womens Hockey Team Beat Russia, 6 to 1. The Russians showed up late without test results, so Canada played in masks, every minute of every period. I was and am, filled with admiration.

Mastodon is a stream. Not a bulletin board.

You cannot post and expect it to be seen. (I dont mean replies, dont mock me with two replies, grr)

Its a river. A stream. Posts can flow by faster than they can be read. And it isnt just one stream, its, local, federated and home at least.

Put your "look at this" posts in twice, easiest way is to boost your post at a different hour, for the peeps on at different times.

Microsoft's Edge browser appears to be sending all the URLs you visit to its Bing API website.

Reddit users first spotted the privacy issues with Edge last week, noticing that the latest version of Microsoft Edge sends a request to bingapis.com with the full URL of nearly every page you navigate to. Microsoft tells The Verge it's investigating ...

Amid all the noise, a couple people have asked me if I sell prints.

I'm flattered that you might want one, but I'm not really equipped to do that right now.

However, almost all my online photos are available for download at full resolution on my Flickr page, under a CC-NC license, so you can have one made locally at a large format fine-art printer.

Personally, I use a Canon PRO-4100, and print mostly on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper, usually with some black point correction.

Thank you so much for making your art available CC-NC, hat tipped.

A woman said she was raped while serving in the National Guard.

    She died soon after.

Under the direction of its leader Maj. Gen. Ondra Berry, the Nevada National Guard launched a zero-tolerance campaign in January 2021 to address sexual assault. It encouraged soldiers to report rape no matter how much time had passed and vowed to support them.

That same month, Sgt. First Class Allison Bailey reported being raped twice the previous May and June by a fellow Guardsman.

I disagree with those who say “Let’s focus on spreading awareness for Mastodon—not the Fediverse” for three reasons:

    1. Some people hate Mastodon. If they don’t like Mastodon, they should know about options to their liking.

    2. Some people are looking for alternatives to Facebook, YouTube, Instagram—and Mastodon is not the answer for them.

    3. What about developers looking to build novel and new social media? They should know what ActivityPub does.

And there is wide diversity in Mastodon. Try fediverse, look into the new apps finding ways to join in.

You know about binary, at least a little. Its a numbering system. The one you know best is the base ten system. You count up to ten, and that becomes a group called ten, two are called twenty, etc. Binary counts to two. One, ten, eleven, "a hundred" (its not called a hundred) 1, 10, 11, 100, 101, 110, 111, 1000

Some inuit kids invented a written system for the ancient inuit base 20 numbering system.

The inuit count in base 20. And the numbers are fascinating.

If you're interested in particular topics, you can join Fediverse groups. They work like this:

    1. Join a group by following its account, leave by unfollowing
    2. Posts from that group will start appearing in your timeline
    3. Post to a group by mentioning it in a public post

The groups work via third party services, the most popular ones at the moment are https://chirp.social and https://a.gup.pe.

Canada's news system has been seized, bought sold off, and is now under the control of a far right American Corporation (most Canadian Newspapers large and small)

There are a handful of excellent small regional papers, Halifx Examiner for example, and The Tyee. The Tyee has come to Mastodon, and thats great, its a great paper, swinging and landing far above its weight, and more than regional paper, well worth a follow, maybe even a bell.

Exactly 14 years ago , Satoshi Nakamoto designed the most pathetic / inefficient system ever invented by humankind : the blockchain.

Today, it weights 60 000 tons, wastes constantly 10 gigawatts (more than Belgium or Chile) to process less than 7 transactions per second :

Less than a 33 bps modem from 1990.

This could be a joke if it didn't have such gigantic environmental impact, wasn't enabling billion dollars ransomware industry and was not crushing thousands of lives in the process.
