How to tell your OSS is ridiculously popular: people aren't 100% sure they didn't embed it, and tack on the software equivalent of "packaged in a facility where peanuts were also present" to the license list.

This watch contains software, so statistically probably contains at least traces of curl.

Ha! The Discord GDPR/Data Export thing reveals that it's running models to figure out what gender you are. If you go to /activity/analytics/events-*.json and grep for predicted_gender you get something like:

<span class="st">{</span>
  <span class="st">"user_id"</span><span class="op">:</span> <span class="st">"282657081457115136"</span><span class="op">,</span>

Anyway, they seem to have this datapoint over time! Meaning you can make a graph of how male/female/NB you are according to discord, here is mine:

Rust is clearly superior to go based on the most obviously objective scientific measure: the number of blog posts about how strings work. Nobody writes blog posts about strings in go, pathetic, but a vast literature has been developed to explain the greatness of rust strings.

me: hmm letโ€™s have a look, which library should i use?

library A: itโ€™s 1c1h. one c file, one header file

library B: to build this repo you need to install GluoOn, a fork of MoonOn, a build system based on the Ploob ecosystem. Edit the Ploob intermediates for your platform and include them in the XJAMELLE files. XJAMELLE is a post-Turing-complete configuration solution based on JSON, YAML and XML. To get familiar with the language, i recommend these books: note that these are affiliate links,

Also, digitalization in Germany: At the (privatized) hospital my mom was admitted to, there is WLAN. In theory.

But to get a temporary login you need to go down to the lobby, find an actual physical vending machine and insert real money cash, actual coins, to get a little paper coupon with your login on it.
(what, you thought it was free? don't be ridiculous)

And it was such a kafkaesque experience. Imagine: There is a company designing, building and selling these machines. Somewhere a bunch of idiots thought, what if we spend unholy amounts of money on a machine that requires physical money tokens to print access information to a WLAN on little strips of paper? What a genius innovation. This must be part of the paperless office everyone is talking about since the 00s.

Also imagine, if you're with an injured leg on the 2nd floor above the lobby and just want to listen to some music. Better have someone with some gold coins in their little leather pouch ready to make the journey. Repeatedly, because ofc you can't buy them in bulk, they're timed to actual time, not time used.

No wonder people prefer to use their mobile net, even if it is hella expensive.
