@lydiaconwell@mas.to

Writer or artist or something. Probably nothing. - London.

If you want to know the main theme of this account ... I generally like to critique things. I usually critique art, books, TV, Movies, etc. And quite often I'm interested story structure and logic. I guess that's my USP or something.

I post either on the Fediverse or on my #PsychicDrool blog.

I love avant-garde stuff, love noisy music. I'm currently into John Coltrane. Got shit I've written on Smashwords.

of a kind

In they visit far away planets and their computers are compatible and they sometimes comment on a race's knowledge of mathematics.

But what's to say the distance planet have the same mathematical system to ours? For example we count in tens and our maths make sense based on that. But what if an alien race counts in 13s or 23s?

Wouldn't that make their maths incompatible to Earth's?

You know most ...

They're kinda movies that you watch once or twice then they lose their magic.

Are there any timeless comedies?

🤔

I mean, most you watch, they're funny, but you never feel like watching them again.

idk You get some people saying pays Nazis and encourages , and supports and if you're on there you're enabling that.

Then you get some groups saying: Fuck you, it's the best place for me to find the people in my demographic.

And that may be true, but the second doesn't cancel out the first, does it?

I've noticed about captains:

has done at least four nude scenes ... involving bathing or massages or something -- Which is fine if she is happy to do those scenes ...

But the only nude scene I remember was when he was being tortured by Cardassians. And he was upside down and shit (and probably a body double).

And I don't remember doing any nude scenes.

Just an interesting observation ...

I was watching an old episode of and there were these two Dutch dudes doing a over the music of Madonna's Holiday.

They were called DJ Mike Wiffwaff and Sven or something. And it was so fucking lousy.

I've always loathed the casual kind of rap, like, Hey! Rap's really easy! sort of thing. I mean, it really displays its cultural appropriation. It's just an embarrassment.

Answer the phone with:

"Please state the nature of the medical emergency."

When I tried that, they hung up straight away!

You can't really follow art hashtags on fedi unless you want to be spammed by bad artists.

It's a shame there isn't more of a contemporary art scene on the Fediverse.

I mean, if you follow movie hashtags you don't get a load of home movies, you get people talking about real movies.

The art hashtags have been hijacked by the amateur.

You know, I think I had Auditory Processing Disorder for a short period when I was younger.

People would say something like, I'm going to the cafeteria,

and I'd hear something like, I've got to kill the carrotmen.

Or something like that.

It happened a lot.

Most in seem to either lean to or revert entirely to standard US spelling ...

But I would have thought folk in the US would like a little bit of standard British English on occasion.

Make them feel a little closer to Hobbiton or something.

I think most people play wrong. When you land on a property you have the chance to buy. If you don't the property is auctioned to all players. This makes the game move a lot faster.

Also, when you land a property, you should buy it because the winner is the one with the most assets (not money) and owning the property gives you, not your opponent, control over it.

Then only sell or swap if you will gain something that will help you win.

Have you seen the episode Nemesis? What's up with that?

When it finally gets to the point, it's actually a very good idea but I think it takes too long to become interesting

The army Chakotay joins are annoying and their dialogue is terrible. How did they keep a straight face saying things like: 'The next light', 'The trembles', 'Nullified' etc?

They just sound so stupid

I think Voyager needed to enter the story earlier and we see the two sides developing at the same time

Seriously! on the

Any criticism of NATOs part in the Ukraine war gets at least two or three pro-west, pro-war a-holes dismissing what's been said as 'Russian propaganda' and usually with the crying-with-laughter emojis.

The west promised not to encroach too close to the Russian borders, then continued to encroach on the Russian borders.

Yet, somehow that means NATO had absolutely no part in the Russian invasion!

Putin's a warmonger and a terrible leader, but NATO pushed for this.

Have you noticed in they use the word 'Array' a hell of a lot?

Neelix has his kitchen array, there are communication arrays, and even space ship arrays.

It's like it's used every episode or something.

I spend most of my time of social media trying to work out what different uses of initialisation actually stand for.

Because without the context it provides, I'm not sure what some people are actually trying to say.

I think I might write a blog about how to format a using because it's so unbelievably easy.

I'm not sure who'd be interested it though. I'm sure everyone uses some expensive professional software or something.

The guide would be for people like me who likes control and likes free stuff and is maybe a little bit oldskool and out of touch with what all the hip are doing nowadays.

I'd like to say that I'm fond of the (mainly) US term 'garbage'.

In the UK it's 'rubbish' or 'refuse' or 'Toryism' or something.

But they don't have the same sound as garbage.

And it's nice to have a language that's so varied, don't you think?

Hm. I just noticed something.

An account said it had zero followers, but then after clicking on replies to a toot it updated, complete with avatar and bio.

And sometimes I get follows from people with zero followers and no info and I just ignore them.

But now is telling me I have to click on each toot individually and read the replies because maybe its lazy ass hasn't bothered to update things yet!

I've written about this before but it's clear nationalism can be used as a uniting force.

Scotland has a national identity separate from the English and that is aiding Scottish independence.

The problem with the English is that Englishness is tied to posh people and monarchy. The English have no strong national identity that opposed to established powers.

So when English nationalism is brought up, it's always to endorse oppression.

England needs an antiestablishment identity like the Scots.

Are there any episodes you pretend never happened?

Bear in mind I've only seen up to part way through .

There are a few I think - especially the comedy episodes.

For me the Voyager episode Fury where makes a return is one I pretend never happened.

The producers of the show totally betrayed Kes in that episode, turning her into something she never was.

No. That episode's dead to me.

In , they have a strange relationship with holo characters.

In many instances they end up realising the holo characters are sentient, and much like , they are an expression of a new kind of life.

Yet having strong relationships with holo characters, or enjoying holo time more than reality is seen as bad.

But if they can be sentient, break programming, it's not just a case of creating fantasy worlds and people.

Why shouldn't people bond with holo characters?
