Stack Overflow announced that they are partnering with OpenAI, so I tried to delete my highest-rated answers.

Stack Overflow does not let you delete questions that have accepted answers and many upvotes because it would remove knowledge from the community.

So instead I changed my highest-rated answers to a protest message.

Within an hour mods had changed the questions back and suspended my account for 7 days.

Diff view of a stack overflow question showing it being changed from the original text to a protest message, then being changed back again by a mod. Protest text reads: Why does OpenAI get to profit from our work? I have removed this question in protest of Stack Overflow's decision to partner with OpenAI. This move steals the labour of everyone who contributed to Stack Overflow with no way to opt-out. OpenAI has a history of flooding the web with inaccurate information and have explicitly stated that they will never pay creators for their work.

@ben you gave them information for free. You don't own it, they do. That was the working relationship.

Imagine if you were working for a company producing work and you suddenly tried to sabotage that work. That's what you were trying to do, sabotage it. They would be perfectly within their rights to restrict your access.

The moral of this story is, if you want to retain ownership then don't give it away (for free) to someone else.

I sat off-screen and listened to a peer's at a major company last week. I didn't even work there, and even with that distance, I am astounded and disgusted at the state of this industry, and the spinelessness of the proceedings.

If you haven't experienced one yet, let me tell you the playbook.

@Haste many moons ago when Argonaut did the whole "we ran out of money, the company cannot pay you" thing the number of Xbox and PS2 dev kits that "escaped the office" was quite high.

OK this might be the right idea. You fill it with books, they don't get dusty... they go in the closet or deep in some storage nook.

Then in 15 years you can look at them and maybe part with a few... I can do this!

I feel like I need to say that Trump had a rally in the Bronx after all. He even found some black people to stand with him. It seems like he's making friends at the courthouse ... people he can commiserate with about how mean those prosecutors are. The guys he was with are notorious criminals. Gang leaders responsible for shootings.

They are not well liked at all.

But I can see how Trump would find them ... relatable. They are his peers in so many ways.

I find the vast majority of yogurt products in American grocery stores to be totally inedible, except the stuff made by immigrants and sold at immigrant markets (desi yogurt, or Lebanese or Turkish labneh). Way too much sugar, or hype, sometimes both. My stomach also does better with the dairy from immigrant markets.

friends. Does anyone have a modern manufacturer's model number for this connector? It is 70 way, approximately 43mm wide across the internal edge, and has a marking 1019 on it. This male connector on the a C65 (C64DX) Rev2B board. I've checked the original schematics, they don't list the part.

This story of this probably trans Burmese-Chinese warlord and Golden Triangle opium smuggler turned peace broker has always fascinated me.

What a life he led. (He was often described as bisexual, but that was because he had to marry a man earlier in life; at the end of his life he asked to be called uncle by everyone)

(cw: Story doesn't use his pronouns)

FTDI: Yes FT232H can do SPI, see our advertising that says so, but by default with a blank EEPROM it does UART with a virtual COM port.
Me: So how can this be changed?

Are any physicists or astrophysicists interested in studying my cat?

I have weighed her many times. She's just over 2.8kg (6 pounds)

The diameter of her smallest paw is at least 3 cm... so the area is something like 6 to 9 cm^2

I simply cannot account for the PSI with this geometry.

Recently it was hypothesized that cats can access a 4th spatial dimension... could this be how she has crushed my internal organs?

How is she able to pin a grown man to a couch for hours?

martin_piper,

@futurebird I can literally see my cat three rooms away, turn around to close a door behind me away from the cat, and then hear her meow from behind the closed door. She teleported.
