SEO Theorist, Tolkien scholar.

I do not support Netanyahu or his policies. However, I -DO- support Israel's right to exist and to defend itself.

I also support Palestinians' right to exist and live in peace. I hope they will be freed from Hamas' oppression and brutal dictatorship.

This is an older op-ed from October 19. It represents views reported by journalists over the past 2 months almost casually: that many blame for the conflict and their suffering - but they're afraid to speak out because Hamas will kill them, their families, or their friends.

"Yasmine Mohammed is the author of “Unveiled: How Western Liberals Empower Radical Islam.” She is also the president of the nonprofit organization Free Hearts Free Minds. The views expressed in this commentary are her own. Read more opinion on CNN. "

Journalist (now academic) Ilene Prusher explains in an op-ed how she and other members of the media were deceived by over the decades.

"Opinion: I reported on Hamas in Gaza for over a decade. Here are the questions I’m asking myself now"

One important paragraph that is relevant to current casualty claims by Hamas: "Hamas also played fast and loose with facts they gave us reporters. During the first major Israel-Hamas war in 2008 to 2009, known as Operation Cast Lead, Hamas said that fewer than 50 of the 1,400 dead in Gaza had been combatants. But more than a year later, Hamas’ interior minister acknowledged in an interview with the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper that between 600 and 700 of its militants were killed in that war. In that and in almost every war since, Hamas or other militant groups in Gaza launched rockets that fell unintentionally on their own citizens, but rarely if ever, owned up to the error, instead blaming Israel for the deaths."

These photos illustrate why the has been forced to attack apartment buildings in . militants are firing on the Israelis from these "apartments" (the room in these photos is almost empty, except for armed men who were killed by an airstrike).

Notice how the Hamas militants are not wearing uniforms. The IDF must carefully evaluate any men who appear to be dressed in civilian clothing.

The pictures were recovered from bodycams on the slain militants.

I want to see the fighting in end.

I want to see Israelis and Palestinians living in peace with each other.

But this is Hamas' war. This is what they wanted. And they wanted all these ignorant people to condemn Israel for defending its existence while remaining silent about Hamas' culpability.

Hamas bombed Palestinian caravans as they fled .

Hamas shot Palestinians who tried to flee from the hospitals.

Hamas did these things knowing that people would falsely blame Israel for them.

There is no hope for peace while Hamas exists. They only exist for the sake of carrying out war against Israel and all Jews.

The Verge asked “who ruined the internet”, and pinned the blame on SEOs.

I don't blame the Verge for falling into this trap. When they see us (SEOs), they see the people who work in explicitly helping businesses make money online. And they see our role in commercializing the web all too clearly, while missing the other parties who may have also played a part.

But why are we looking for anyone else to blame?

@sil @robin But what would prevent the tiles from downloading malicious code to a user agent? Preventing the tiles from communicating with the rest of the network doesn't seem to offer much security via encapsulation, since the proposal itself says that titles could still convey links and other data that come with all sorts of security risks.

And if the current browser model won't work (well) with tiles, that means a whole new user interface will be required - and that means all the old security issues will be resurrected and have to be dealt with again.

And what compelling reason will the general population have for switching agents? They're already inundated with browsers and apps.

@robin @sil I was thinking the malicious code might be embedded in them - hence, no download needed. Hope I am wrong.

That's a war crime.

Hamas plants roadside bombs inside Gaza to kill Palestinians as they flee away from Israel's bombing.

That's a (Hamas) war crime.

Hamas sent over 1,000 militants into Israel to rape, burn, and torture Israeli civilians.

That's a war crime.

Hamas continuously fires rockets into Israel without any attempt to target them toward military installations or troops.

That's a war crime.

Don't talk about war crimes in Gaza if you're going to conveniently omit any mention of Hamas' war crimes.

Hamas started this war. Hamas is keeping the war going. Anyone who refuses to acknowledge that Hamas is culpable is supporting war crimes.

michael_martinez,

@LALegault "Answering war crimes with war crimes doesn’t solve anything"

No. But neither does insisting that a country like Ukraine or Israel sit and let someone lob drones and missiles at them all the time solve anything.

The old adage "it takes two to fight" is wrong. It only takes one monster with an arsenal to start killing people - and blaming the victims of attacks for fighting back doesn't solve anything.

What's happening in Gaza is horrible. I hate it as much as anyone. But what's happening to Israel is also horrible - and that includes all the victim-blaming on social media (much of which is orchestrated by Hamas' propaganda).
