Me: I think I need more flexibility than what mastodon offers right now.

Them: What do you mean? Mastodon is super flexible! What do you need?

Me: Well I don't like X and I'd rather have Y.

Them: Oh, yeah it definitely doesn't do that. But you're sort of wrong for wanting that anyway. Glad I could help!

Getting closer to migrating Securing Laravel to Ghost, but now there is a new issue: Substack manage the Stripe account, so I can't link Ghost to import subscribers.

Hopefully there is an easy fix. 🤞

@valorin @willpower232 I believe I only connected stripe once I had disconnected Substack from my stripe account (https://www.citationneeded.news/substack-to-self-hosted-ghost/)

my guess is the ghost concierge service should be familiar with this process

Oh, one last thing I just thought of. I promise I'll shut up.

I'm listening to the article while looking over the screenshots and stuff. I'm enjoying interacting with the article this way, but I know I might be in the minority.

My only minor gripe is that if I want to stop and really read over something, I have to scroll all the way to the top of the page to pause the audio, then scroll back down to find my place, read, then scroll up again to restart it.

Floating media player?

@molly0xfff@hachyderm.io avatar

@BrilliantIdiot thanks for the suggestion, and i'm glad you're enjoying it! in the meantime the audio versions are also available in podcast players if it would be easier to have it open there for listening (or you could also have two tabs)

it is extremely funny to me that a lot of the people who want to slash or repeal are the same people condemning 's Katherine Maher for her past comments they think are "anti-First Amendment"

molly0xfff,
@molly0xfff@hachyderm.io avatar

in those comments she is actually describing the free speech protections afforded by Section 230 (although Rufo et al have ignored where she said those protections were "very important" and instead spun her comments as though she was criticizing it)

slashing or repealing 230 is the real anti-free speech issue here; certainly not Maher's comments supporting it

In this video, I also go into the idea of "verifiability, not truth" — a philosophy that is controversial both on- and off-wiki.

A campaign against 's new CEO, ex- Foundation Katherine Maher, is trying to portray her as "anti-truth" and "anti-First Amendment" by taking quotes out of context from her past talks about Wikimedia. As a longtime Wikipedian, I think I can give a little more context about these statements — but I recognize that the people behind this campaign are, ironically, not looking for the facts.

@craiggrannell I've found Claude to be far better than ChatGPT at proofreading. Not perfect, but it doesn't try to point out "errors" that don't exist in the original as much as ChatGPT.
