And lest you believe integration was just some rumour, think again. In a slide, Meta confirms that Barcelona will indeed be decentralized and will be compatible with Mastodon.

Everyone who thought that AT protocol would easily win over ActivityPub, and that would kill Mastodon just because a few influencers joined doesn't understand the sheer marketing power and pull that Meta has at its disposal.

But believe me, I'm not exactly cheering on Meta here. Generally, where Meta goes, shenanigans happen. I simply don't think Meta is capable of releasing a product without dark patterns.

Nevertheless, I don't think the Fediverse is even close to preparing for what will happen once Barcelona starts federating.

We should all be taking Barcelona very seriously.

@lordmatt no problem ☺️ btw. there is a debugger in the Webmention plugin, where you can put in the source and the target and see what the plugin detects. You can find it unter „tools“.

Is anyone reporting problems with ActivityPub Wordpress plugin? In my site it isn't publishing new posts.

@oblomov @matz it could become slower with more followers. I re-worked the followers list handling a bit, so that profiles that are abandoned will be removed after some request errors. this should keep your list clean and might make posting faster. You will also be able to delete followers by hand. be curious about v1.0.0 ;)

I love how Automattic (the company behind wordpress) embraces the protocol. It's a great fit philosophically and I am curious to see where it goes.

I just tried to hook it up via the plugin to use it to share photos. But it seems like images are not yet supported? Would be a nice way to build a personal instagram-like feed, especially when the comments are synced.

@pfefferle (sorry for summoning you so ruthlessly), are you planning to integrate support for the post's main image?

@b3n @kallekn There even is a template-tag (you have to check the help in the top ride of the settings screen) but because Mastodon does not support inline images, they are added as attachments. But maybe Friendi.ca or Misskey/Calckey do support inline-media and it makes sense to use both.

The plugin does only support user profiles atm. there is no blog wide stream yet. So yes, it uses the gravatar image (or any other image, that is hooked into the get_avatar function).

IndieBlocks’ post type settings. I’ve enabled most, but not all, precisely because I’m keeping notes and likes separate from regular “posts” (instead of going “full tumblelog”).

What do you think about: if someone uses the ActivityPub plugin to directly federate his posts, he could install your "Share on Mastodon" plugin, to not crosspost, but automatically boost the just federated post using a Mastodon Account?

There is not yet a good documentation, but if you tell me what you need, I can provide the needed informations.

There is not yet a filter, to decide what to post and what not. At least not on post level. You can enable/disable federation for Post-Types though. I am planning to add a checkbox to the editor, to enable/disable federation per post and this could be also filterable.

I'm increasingly getting the feeling that one of these days I need to reactivate LID -- Light-Weight Digital Identity -- my entry into and created more or less by accident in 2004. Then folded into the larger movement. Some of its more interesting features were adopted by other identity protocols over time, but some others are still unique and would be very useful now that the decentralized, user-owned, social web is waking back up.
