@Karoli important article but really weird it's saying the Boomer generation ended in 1964 (says the youngest turn 59 this year)

@Karoli so GenX is only 16 years? I thought boomers were generally until 60, GenX 61-80

    @jeffjarvis I'm not going to bring receipts because I'm just too damn tired but the notion of bad words traces its origins to the same thing most nonsense does, racism and classism.

    Perfectly great that a rich white man bemoaning language that rich white lords decided was used by "those people" to the point that they outlawed it is writing this today.

    The Comstock laws being considered to ban sending the abortion pills literally come from this place. I mean literally.

    If I lost 99.9% of my wealth I'd be down to the clothes on my back and maybe one of my two cars (which are a 2011 and 2014 Subaru and Toyota).

    @flockofnazguls the majority of GenX voters vote GOP. Shocking but true. In fact, GenX is the MOST pro Trump generation.

    @nuncio @flockofnazguls I guess the exit polls are wrong. 🤷‍♂️

    I'm GenX and I too am surrounded by people who don't vote for Trump.

    But I'm just sharing the uncomfortable truth. GenX is, according to exit polls, the most MAGA generation.

    philip_cardella,
    @philip_cardella@historians.social avatar

    @foolishowl @ATLeagle @flockofnazguls the first part is right but the myth of people becoming more conservative as they grow older is just that, which is why the MFing boomers are less likely to vote Trump than GenX.

    It doesn't matter what your guess is. Exit polls showed GenX voted for Trump more than any other generation. It's not just a large minority.

    CNN packed the room with Trump supporters. This was a demand of Trump’s, and acceded to it. Potential Trump opponents, like Democrats, were not allowed in.

    That is not a “Town Hall,” and it is not a “news event.” Yet look at how Chris Licht justifies it. He pretends that the “media” has been “ignoring that those people exist.”

    @StillIRise1963 it is true that through voter suppression whites have reduced Black voting power again. But Black voters have persisted and this has led again to threats of violence, with heavily armed white men trying to be poll watchers.

    We need to vote tactically and we need to understand it does work and it has been done by people who bled and died to get it done.
