@Artemis201 It looks very nice! I'll be there in a couple weeks, while I've never seen snow before (and that wouldn't hurt) I'm actually hoping it stays nice to explore the mountains ⛰️
@Artemis201 No car, I'll be staying in southern Baseline Sub, I prefer more outdoors stuff (trailrunner!) but some indoors is nice (really enjoy live music, food, art) spending some money is ok.
I know it is a bit unusual but I own a #GrandSeiko, a #Citizen and a #Casio watch yet I don’t have any #Seiko. I am going to fix that soon as I am missing a field watch in my #watches collection. Hint: I went very cheap as I intend for it to be my beater 😁. #watchesofmastodon
@ppn It's. Never. Complete. 😅 What characteristics do you like about this one? What is holding you to use any of your other watches as a beater? For me it’s water resistance, I prefer dress watches and leather straps.
@ppn Cartier might be my favorite watchmaker, I like so many pieces: Tank Chinoise, Tank Basculante, Tank Asymétrique, Crash, Dice, etc. and also I’d use one as a beater! 😅
Saturday: Did my Duolingo, went for 11km of #Walking (+3°C with eventual light rain), picked up some groceries, and then did half an hour of HIIT (so hard).
Worked on stuff most of the afternoon, and about to call it a day. Time for some leftover pizza and maybe a movie.
Friday: 91 seconds of plank, 21.5 km of #running (-3°C with a windchill of -7°C).
Good run around #Ottawa today; first half-marathon this year. Think I’d kind of built up a mental block around it and decided today was the day. Fastest half in a year, really enjoyed the conditions (cool), even if it was sunny out (I prefer dark or overcast).
Another ‘consume’ message from the Gruaniad. I can provide more why you probably don't need one. The main being cost, waste and the fact that with a little care, a modern laptop (say up to 10 years) can provide a good service for years to come. AI - not necessary for most, WiFi - can be boosted with a USB stick, batteries - replaced.
(from a 2009 MacBookPro)
It looks like I am already on my way to get a #GrandSeiko for my #watches collection. Instead of going for the SBGA211 aka Snowflake, I’ll be getting the SBGA259 aka Golden Snowflake 😁
Declaring Apple Music bankruptcy; it has made me so unhappy with what's left of the music library I spent 25 years curating that there's just no way to fix it anymore. I've lost my algorithm-seeding play counts, hearts and stars many times over by now. cmd-A, delete 🫡
Anyone out there drive an Ioniq 5? I’m looking at it for my next car and need to gather opinions both good and bad. If you have thoughts you wanna share please let me know. Thx!
@jamesthomson Really like the: “I was a Mac user when Apple was doomed.” Even though technically my generation has never seen such a thing, some people think this is happening every single day with those headlines. 😂
I expect these numbers to fall dramatically in February; I’ll be off on a special project three days a week, plus a week (we’re shooting a movie- Shhh!).
I haven't figured out how to track the #AppleFitness stuff yet; per exercise feels like it will add a lot of columns. Maybe number of exercises/time?
What would information architecture of a musical instrument be like?
A form of doing IA that enables remixing categories and classifications defending on context, goals, interest. A kind of IA that amplifies imagination.
What kind of design methods open up for IA when category/taxonomy making is not done for navigation & organization of information but for enabling remixing it
IA that helps in remixing constituent sub-categories, part-whole relations & interactions among different categories
@impactology You’d need some definition of patterns (notes from A to G and its respective intervals) that enable the creation of harmony (play multiple notes to create a new sound), melody (a succession of these notes) and rhythm (the spinal column of the music).
AI-generated “art” fanatics have a new claim to support the supremacy of their format: that mathematics is only now being introduced into artistic practices. That they have essentially invented math-based artwork and pioneered it in a way that has made human creativity obsolete.
This idea should not be given currency. The truth is that mathematics and art have been deeply intertwined for centuries.
I honestly hope to see Steam on iOS, with cross-buy, cross-save, and cross-compatibility. We could theoretically see something like Steam's Proton layer add automatic game compatibility with the platform.
Or something like Setapp, with subscription access to bundles of apps.
@stroughtonsmith Until you have to download WhatsApp etc. from the fucking Meta store. Right now I don't need to add additional spyware get any app, thats not good.
If Apple doesn't make a Magic Keyboard with built-in trackpad for Vision Pro, they've totally missed a trick. I would love just a single accessory to bring along with me on e.g. flights
@stroughtonsmith I feel they're against the fact that they would send the message that you “need” one, which would constraint the use of the device to a particular space, like a computer does.
