    Täglich ein bis zwei Video-Konferenzen oder persönliche Treffen, z.T. bis Mitternacht, um

    Just for the record: Hamburg's authorities have been asked to re-count the masses based on drone/helicopter footage etc and they now corrected the estimated number of people at that demonstration to appr. 180000 people.

    In den Bussen des Hamburger Verkehrsverbundes (HVV) kann man ab dem Jahreswechsel keine Fahrscheine mehr in bar kaufen. Kundinnen und Kunden können aber vorher eine Bezahlkarte erwerben, von der dann im Bus der Fahrpreis abgebucht wird.

    "Unsere Fahrerinnen und Fahrer müssen sich nicht mehr morgens das Wechselgeld holen und es abends wieder einzahlen. Aus Fahrgastsicht gibt es den entscheidenden Vorteil, dass der Fahrgastwechsel schneller geht."

    Ich stelle mir gerade vor, wie meine betagten Eltern zu Besuch kommen. Die kommen vom Land und nutzen für die letzte Meile dann nur den einen HVV Bus und brauchen aus Gründen nur 'ne Busfahrkarte:

    Ich besorge denen also vorab schonmal so eine aufgeladene Prepaid-Karte.

    Die steigen jetzt da vorne ein, und müssen das inkl. Auswahl des korrekten Fahrscheintyps (zwei Einzelfahrscheine Kurzstrecke) hinkriegen.

    Karte raus fummeln, Lesebrille auf, und nu? Ah ranhalten. Welche Karten brauchen wir .... hm, oookey, nochmal ranhalten, ah, äh und nun alles ein zweites Mal das Ganze. Üben, üben, üben, ...

    Da werden die Busfahrenden hinter dem Steuer und im Fond wohl mehr Geduld haben müssen als bisher.

    Wenn das nun eine reine Bezahlkarte ähnlich einer Mensakarte wäre, kann das funktionieren, aber im kompletten Self-Service ... ich bezweifel, dass das bei älteren Menschen, die eher selten Bus fahren, ankommt.

    Photo blurring capability and Exif-data clearing as a configurable default setting would be a nice feature to have directly in the , too 🤩

    Mitchell Baker from Mozilla tells the German news agency that we shouldn't "leave AI development to the tech-giants", that somehow "the training data should be controlled by users".

    And that does on a surface level sound nice. User control and criticizing tech giants. Great. But it accepts the tech-giants' narrative: That "AI" is inevitable and that all data has to be dumped into these systems, that unfairness is a tech issue to solve with more data. That is not true.

    We can also decide not to build these huge and wasteful statistical systems.

    The reflection concerning the UI somewhat destroyed the way we were used to develop the app.
    We do know this is important for you and we would like to fix it.
    But there is no magic solution on our end (otherwise everyone would be happy).
    We are happy that you appreciate features, but unhappy to have a bad UX. We are turning around unfortunately.

    I like Fedilab's UI/UX and the rich feature set that it is unearthing from the galore possibilities offers 👍

    When its UX is weird/unexpected in corners, I attribute that to software bugs, not to the UI.

    Which HTTP client actually tries to resolve the URL to check for redirections and hence ultimately shows up in the logs of the potential URL shortening service?

    • The Fedilab app on the mobile device?
    • The home instance of the :fediverse: account that is checking for redirections?
    • Some server or service run or used by Fedilab?
    • Or ...?

    That together with a minimized set of HTTP headers (i.e. especially no referer and no user-agent) is probably as good as it can get. And it does not utilize external services.

    A bug, not saving changed drafts:

    When drafting a (Mastodon) post with an attached image, you back out of editing the post and at the pop-up prompt you choose to save the draft; and then come back later to this saved draft to just add or edit the image's , "Validate" the new/changed alt text, and not touch the text of the actual post itself at all. And then when you back out of editing the draft again, despite of having changed the post (i.e. the alt text), there is no pop-up asking if the changed post shall be saved again. This seems to be a bug since the post has changed, even if just the alt text changed and there should be a pop-up asking to re-save the changed draft again.

    This way I had to re-craft quite a few alt texts again.
