Microsoft’s claim of a “Faster app emulation than Rosetta 2” is the new OS/2: “A better DOS than DOS and a better Windows than Windows"

OS/2 failed for a lot of reasons. A not insignificant one was that your Win16 apps would run great, better even, on OS/2. On Windows if a Win16 app died it’d take down the machine. On OS/2 it’d just get killed and you could go on with life.

Being great at backwards compatibility when you want people to move forward is a very sharp double edged sword.

@Gte I’m running the ARM version of Windows 11 in Parallels on my MacBook Pro M3. I swear it runs x86 programs better there than on my other machine with a real x86 processor. That’s not using Rosetta BTW. That is using Microsoft’s emulation.

If all macOS 15 does is remove that stupid emoji-palette-blocking autocomplete popup that Sonoma added, I will be happy. Adding an extra step to something I do a hundred times a day, without giving an option to turn it off? Genius.

It's even better that invoking the keyboard shortcut twice bypasses it… — except when it doesn't have an emoji to autocomplete, and then the double-shortcut presents then immediately dismisses the emoji palette instead

I’m so glad Apple is really vetting the App Store for quality software.

This is the app for my Bluetooth power meter. It’s half in Chinese. Some buttons don’t do anything at all. There’s dialog boxes that don’t say anything.

The app is called “e_test” and doesn’t have any English description in the App Store.
