How it is not an absolute emergency situation when >1 million people have had nothing but toxic air to breathe for 3+ days, I will never understand.

The minimum US EPA PM2.5 we've had over the last three days was just over 100.

The healthy 24hr maximum is 50. Our minimum has been twice that.

I haven't seen the sun in three days. This feels absolutely apocalyptic and I'm finding it harder and harder to cope.

@DaveMasonDotMe Yes, this measures the concentration of particles of 2.5M size, commonly associated with smoke. It uses the US Environment Protection Agency scale. Values under 50 are generally good, anything above 300 is abysmal & hazardous.

This measure comes from a PurpleAir sensor, which anyone can buy and help crowd source local air quality in real time.

You should be able to find more information on the web on both the sensor and the scale (apologies, not by a computer right now!)

    How is it possible slash legal that the City of has zero idea who is doing construction on their roadways/water systems, repeatedly, without any notice given to residents?

    How is it possible that we get notices for events twenty blocks away, but not for repeated road and alley closures literally adjacent to our lot that cut off our access & cause extreme noise all day long?

    I am so, so tired of this.

    Does anyone know of any that are accepting new folks?

    I am on mastodon.gardensoul.org, but the instance has been down for almost a full day now without any notice or status update. While I hope it'll come back, might be good to have a plan b.

    If you're an organization who puts out a call for , and someone responds who has the required experience/skills, and then you don't get back to them at all but then repeat the same call for volunteers in the next newsletter -- idk but that's not a good look!?

    clearly the slots have not all been filled since you just sent the call out again. at least tell me I'm not a good fit or whatever.

    Ok so what do we do when a small instance goes down...? My other account has been inaccessible for around nine hours, same for the server of the parent website, the instance's about page, etc etc. Can't contact the admin either.

    For a non-decentralized service, can use DownDetector or similar to see if others are having issues too - not so here.

    Hopefully just a temporary blip...
