@mloxton @DrTCombs My policy last year was if I had to ask it probably had other structural issues that ran afoul of the rubric/standard anyway.

I agree there are no effective counter-ai detectors that don't give egregious false positives.

Been looking at the comments around Delta only being available in the EU through AltStore, and how there’s a €1.50 annual fee while it’s free everywhere else.

I’m really, really struggling to understand why people are up in arms about having to spend €1.50 a year.

Even at my most hard up, I wouldn’t have baulked at that cost. Not least because it’s not necessarily Riley that’s charging it, it’s to cover the bullshit CTF costs that Apple has levied.

    3/22: Are there any books which should be banned, or is book banning always wrong?

    I draw a line between fiction and non-fiction (or fic presented as non-fic) intended to persuade or make an ideological argument. Clearly-identified fiction shouldn't be banned. Presenting-as-non-fic like "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion" is flat-out toxic to a society, as is non-fic crank science and "scientific racism", eg. "The Bell Curve".

    The Bible? Toxic AF, presents as non-fic: ban!

    @cstross for me, I don't think there's anything wrong with society slapping a big cigarette style "this shit is toxic, fake, and not what it claims to be, knock yourself out dumb ass" but I'm generally against bans that aren't a demonstrable immediate threat to the life and lomb of others.

    One of the younger employees just told me that his team leader suggested that he should hand in his notice and get paid until the end of the month, because he’ll be getting sacked next month anyway.

    The team leader in question has form for being a cunt, so hopefully this’ll be the thing that gets him a proper rap on the knuckles.

    Have you ever wondered why so many Christians cheer on conflicts in the Middle East and profess support for Israel? It's not love for Israel or the other countries there. It's because they believe such violence will lead to the End Times Apocalypse, the return of Christ, and the Tribulation, where all the believers will rise into the air to heaven, leaving only the ungodly non-Christians behind doomed to eternity in Hell. That's what it's actually all about.
