It seems I meant a lot of assholes today and he's the latest one and he told me to stop voting literally promoting voter suppression. I reported his account and forwarded to his instance hopefully his account gets banned
@alfredo_liberal Obviously, this person looked at your name, your avi, and your post, and decided, based on the way you write English, to be a fucking racist asshole to you, Alfredo. I'm so sorry, but people like this exist everywhere, and I hope you never have to deal with him again.
@elfin@juliewebgirl I'm so sorry. As someone who's always been active and athletic (if klutzy), it IS possible to fall up the stairs, and as one grows older, one's joints get less flexible, and it's hard to lift one's legs as high as one needs to clear each step. She needs something that will improve her sense of balance, when she recovers. Pilates and Tai Chi are both helpful. Yes, I'm old as Methusaleh, and it shows.
@Green_Footballs So out one side of their mouth they're letting Nazis on their platform, and out the other, they're telling people no hate or extremist conduct? You can't even block Nazis, what good is this going to do?
So on this historic day, I received my first #Mastodon report -- a user on [instance] who reported me for "Other", citing several of my recent ordinary posts (a poll about threats to the world, a quick comment on Elon and Jack, and a note about the topic for my Monday evening radio tech segment). The comment on the report was "insufferable yank." I suppose that might be true from some persons' point of view -- but does it break any legit instance rules anywhere? Seems rather unlikely.
Luckily, since I'm the only user of my instance and so I am also the admin, this report was easily resolved on my end.
@obeto Black children are not seen as children. Black people are not seen as human. They embiggen our children so that they can fear them. They should be ashamed to be so afraid of little children.
@lauren Ah! That makes sense, of course. Being an ailurophile, I assumed you were doing it to lure us into reading your posts, because she is a beauty. Thank you.
@lauren Lucky you! Izzy comes when he feels like it, and Juju always stares at me as I've gone insane when I call him. Like, "Why would you expect me to reply to that? WHY?"
The tragic demise of Dexter Barry, a heart transplant recipient, after two days in jail without his life-sustaining medication, should elicit profound outrage. Barry was arrested on a simple assault charge, accused of threatening his neighbor.
Barry repeatedly emphasized his medical needs to officers and judges, pleas that fell on deaf ears. Eventually, his body rejected his transplanted heart, resulting in his untimely death. To dismiss such a critical need on grounds of an allegedly trivial disagreement amounts to an unsettling dereliction of duty, one that echoes the unsavory autocracies of the 20th century.
@PaulNickson@TomWellborn If someone tells you they will die as a result of failing to take their medication, and you ensure it is impossible for them to take their medication, yes, it's a deliberate killing.
Augh. The eyes are still settling down post-surgery, so things aren't always perfectly visible, and I keep reaching for my glasses (which I don't need any more). On the PLUS side, I am nose-deep in Howard W. French's "Born in Blackness: Africa, Africans, and the Making of the Modern World." Well worth reading, I think. Just today, I read about the discovery of "superhighways" in Guatemala. I'm beginning to think world history is very different than we have been told.
I can't always read. For the last three days, I've had a headache and a hurty eyeball and stinging pains in my eyes. I have, however, managed to find a pair of reading glasses that will work for me. So off to read I go. Next on the list? I'm not sure. Should I read what I have (Toni Morrison's "The Source of Self-Regard")? Or the historically more appropriate, perhaps, of the following books?
A Fistful of Shells: West Africa from the Rise of the Slave Trade to Revolution;
Florida passed SB 1718 allowing undocumented immigrants in the state to be targeted because…reasons
Truckers are calling for a boycott of Florida. This is huge.
"Truckers, don't enter the state of Florida. Let's be united as Latinos in defense of our Latin American brothers who are being assaulted by this very stupid law, which incites hatred and discrimination...My truck won't move. Don't enter Florida. Nobody enter Florida."
@flexghost I side with the Latino truckers who are boycotting Florida. De Santis is conducting a war against helpless people - transgender kids, LGBTQ folks, immigrants, refugees. A million curses on his head!
Sen. Tim Scott: Why don’t you just slip a white pillowcase over your head, or maybe even a noose — to spare your White nationalist GOP the trouble — then call it a day. You’re a damned disgrace.
You’re not “A-Okay,” and neither is your signaling, whether it’s intentional or not. You SHOULD know better, and you DO know better. You continue to make absolutely shameful choices.
