Where can I buy more hours in a day?

I don't want to pay someone to do things, I want more time to do things myself.

I want to spend time with my family, read more books, articles, answer people with good questions, write, tame computers… and nobody can do it for me!

Do we have an implementation or even plan for apps on Linux to handle URL ownership? E.g. if I have a Flathub link and my app store has a Flathub remote, it would be neat to just pop me into the native app store. Or if I have a link out to matrix.to, it would be nice to just open it in my chat app directly.

I know we can do protocol-level stuff like apstream:// but I mean Android- and iOS-style link handling.

In fact, do other desktop platforms even do this?

@cassidy if it didn't change since the last time I checked, Apple calls this "App Associated Domain" and Google calls it "Android App Links". Might be useful for potential research on the state of the art :)

Great news for @thunderbird !

I still remember how vibrant Purism's community felt when @linuxflower was in charge.

I can easily imagine that her work at Canonical was no easy feat, and I'm really sure she's going to be a very strong asset in Thunderbird's team!

It's fantastic to see the a great team blossom like that. Keep up the good work folks!

I think this looks like an acceptable mobile version for the @matrix Server List.

I'm sad I couldn't use a proper <dialog> for it, but it was incredibly painful to position properly and I couldn't find extensive info about its peculiarities on MDN.

A screen recording of the mobile version of the matrix server list. It starts by displaying a list of cards containing a few details about the servers. Clicking on one of these cards makes an overlay appear, with a close button at the top right and all the details. It's possible to close the overlay both by clicking the close button or by tapping outside of the card.

Progress on the Matrix Server List after a month away from computers.

There are still a few rough edges, but things are coming together to help people escape the gravity of the @matrix instance if they want to!

Currently testing the latest internal build of Element X iOS and… it's just pure joy to use.

The sync happens in no time, everything feels super native, the design is slick… it truly is going to be a game changer!

If you have an account on matrix.org you can join the Testflight (info ⬇️). If you run your own homeserver, you need the sliding sync proxy to use it.

The good news are: the proxy is of course OSS, and I have created a tutorial to help you deploy it

@cassidy the GNOME instance is hosted by EMS, and they are working on how to deploy the sliding sync proxy in a scalable way :)

It would be quite a damp squib if the brand new super fast sync ended up being slow because it lacks resources

Heads-up the @matrix website Atom feed now only returns the last 15 entries.

It previously returned all the articles since 2014, weighing a whopping 13MB that caused issues with some RSS readers.

I'm aware Inoreader doesn't reflect new entries since July, I'm reaching out to fix the problem on either side
