Modern websites: "You only have 16GB of memory? Forget about reading this website."
Indie games: "This game contains secrets for years and years of play time. It also runs in a custom engine with amazing visuals and top quality sound design. Oh and it also fits in 40MB."
#Bitwarden Authenticator app! Finally an open-source alternative to #Authy. The app looks very nice and modern on Android. Can't wait for sync support.
I hope the AI hype will die with a nuclear bang. Not a real one (hopefully), but maybe a time where some (big) companies will get into a financially unstable situation because they blindly added AI to everything and it doesn't generate real revenue like they expected. I really hope to see some big players in the space die out. Wishful thinking probably.
#FrierenBeyondJourneysEnd complete soundtrack is released!! I'm already beyond addicted to the limited album that was on Spotify. I'm going to overdose on #Frieren soundtrack.
I'm not joking, I love the music of this show. It's part of what made the show so good.
When I plugged in the radio connection, Windows started to completely freeze. The taskbar was unresponsive, any programs I opened stopped responding to input, windows were dragged around randomly. At first I had no clue what was going on. Then I realized the only thing that changed was some colleagues who had taken some days off and were now back in the office. I asked one of them to use their mouse and type on the keyboard. Not much happened at first. Then I reconnected the radio antenna. 3/
Windows immediately blue-screened. I think I laughed out loud for a good 30 seconds before I could tell them that they just crashed my system with their mouse.
The best part is that the blue-screen of death mentioned a memory error. This catastrophe could have probably been avoided if Windows was written in Rust. Another day, another reason to use Rust. 4/
You don't agree with a project? Nice! Keep it to yourself and don't use the project. Don't start trying to argue with the maintainer or main developer about their political view. You will not get anywhere.
If I was going to argue with every developer of a project whose political view did not align with mine, I'd have a full time (although unpaid) job.
@visone Totally agree with you on that one. It should just have been an internal discussion and they should have been removed without much controversy. But instead, we have this.
@tripplehelix There wasn't anything too important on it. It would have been handy to have the data this week, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if it was corrupted either.
I would never think of walking up to a neurosurgeon and to start lecturing him on the best use of a micro Kerrison. As an engineer, I know well how that delicate instrument is designed and how it functions. But I know even better that, given my complete lack of medical knowledge, I should never go anywhere near a live patient with a split-open skull, let alone flailing about that instrument near his head.
Yet, on several occasions, I've been accosted by doctors, lawyers, and businessmen alike on how best I should employ a particular #technology in my work—VoIP, Bluetooth, Java, you name it, with LLMs being their favourite tech-of-the-day, at the moment.
I know some businessmen who fly on a weekly basis, practically living on an airliner. But none would dare deliver to a gathering of airline pilots a sermon on how best to perform an approach into a Class Bravo airspace. So then, why would these businessmen feel comfortable enough to come tell me how I should do my job?
What is it about our field that makes every non-techie who saw a Reddit post on some #technology believes he's now an expert in it?
Wait you can use a #Bitlocker encrypted drive on #Linux? What is this magic? I was already prepared for so many hoops and pain, but no. Just plug-and-play on #GNOME#Nautilus.
@killyourfm I had no clue this game had been released!? I absolutely loved the first game, even though I never played it myself. I remember being so sad after the first one ended because I knew the wait would be long. Can't wait to play this one. I'll probably purchase Remake at some point as well just to play through it myself.
