So strange that on Mastodon there are folks who seem to be "followable" but a few mins after I hit "follow" their status goes back to "follow" as if it didn't take. I wonder is it an issue with my account or theirs?

We should make more games that subvert genre's. Like make an RPG where you start out as a godlike entity and slowly lose power and loot while healing monsters.

Or you have a massive treasure hoard and you must explore ancient ruins to restore stolen treasure.

Wouldn't those be some interesting and fun #games ?

I think as web developers we have been collectively brainwashed into thinking that you must use React and Tailwind to create websites, when all you really need are vanilla web standards and a text editor. We should be making it easier to make websites than it is right now. You should not need a PhD in web design to create something that you can share and express yourself. We need more tools that make web development easy, not more tools that turn it into some 10 step build process #webdev

Do you know all those "failed" side projects you've worked on? All those story ideas, half-baked artwork, and those tutorials you only partially finished?

Those are NOT FAILURES. They are like little nuggets of learning that you have been investing in. Like collecting sea glass on an infinite beach of possibilities.

Do not consider that wasted time. You explored an idea, or some creative thought. Now take that learning and carry it forward to the new thing.

Sunday morning is always a mentally challenging day for me. I know I have to resume work tomorrow and I am faced with the conflicting goals of resting/relaxing and making "progress" on all my personal goals.

My advice to myself and for you if you are facing the same conundrum is don't forget the power of persistent, relentless, incremental progress.

Instead of trying to do everything today, pick one or two things to do that are small and doable, then use the rest of the time to rest.

In my old age I've come to realize that religion is a system designed to keep the weakest under control and drive away all creative thought.

Yet faith is something incredibly powerful and enabling - when it is freed from religion and allowed to blossom without being choked off by arbitrary rules that only serve those who wish to stay in control over you.

I remember when a new Reader's Digest would come out, and I would consume it like a 3 course meal - first reading the little bite sized jokes or stories, then going through again and reading the more substantial longer form stories.
