    Fediverse developer, when someone reports a security issue with your software, there is one and only one correct course of action.

    Say thank you. Prioritize an immediate fix. Publish a hot patch version for all applicable major versions within hours or days. Publicly acknowledge the report.

    Avoid minimisation, whataboutism, personal attacks, and complaining about the work involved.

    I feel like I'm finally starting to turn a corner on data-oriented design and its such a great concept for writing fast software. On the surface its "obvious" but it has taken me awhile to really internalize how to design/refactor software for it. A great intro talk: https://vimeo.com/649009599 I watched this like 5 times no joke and every time it made TOTAL sense but it still took me... years... to feel like I really started to get it outside of toy examples.

    I don't think that tourism (certainly the sort where you get off ships to go out on smaller boats or on land) should be allowed in Antarctica. It’s far too fragile and precious. I’ve been asked to go on a two week cruise to talk to paying customers about the science there and just the idea of participating in all that makes me feel sick.

    @mykhaylo @alecui Same but I use Migadu and IMAP. I prefer mu4e because it to me it has a very sensible UX especially threaded view, search is awesome thanks to mu, and everything has been very stable

    @daringfireball I’d like to see Free Software thrive. But the GPL crowd’s ideological zealotry is obviously holding it back. That’s why I’m much more optimistic about the term Open Source and the BSD license that allows businesses to make proprietary versions of other people’s work. Because success is defined by how many people use the software and how much shareholder value is created, not our collective creativity nor healthy communities

    Yes, you heard that right. Web apps on Mac, from Safari. Any website can be added to your Dock, and opened as a web app. Web app developers can customize their web app with a web manifest file and more — just like for web apps on iOS and iPadOS. Stay tuned for all the details later this week.
