I check in here quite often, but for now, I'm just focusing on clearing spam and keeping the instance alive. In January, I was working on the AP module, and there has been significant progress in the work, which hasn't been publicly published yet. Unfortunately, at the beginning of the year, I developed a skin condition that...
Intro GPUs are complex beasts - and certainly more mysterious in some ways than CPUs which come with ample amounts of documentation and manuals. Aspiring graphics programmers (too insignificant to have a devrel contact to give insight) are sometimes left to scrounge old GDC presentations on performance tips, with very little...
I was playing around with auto-vectorization in C++ last night, and it's pretty neat, but I've got a question for you smart beautiful people out there:
When targeting x64, is there some way to get any of the major compilers to generate optional versions of functions that take advantage of wider simd instructions when they are available?
This month, I managed to wrap up many overdue matters. It seems to me that I responded to the majority of lingering emails, and a few issues turned out to be so important that they took a few extra days. I also dealt with [a certain aspect related to the project, about which I'll be able to share more in a few weeks....

On my rss feed I saw a headline asking to share a cherished (gaming) Christmas memory. I think it would be a lovely exercise but I can’t focus on one. All my Christmases seem to be mashed together or too far :/ perhaps also I grew up wanting very little, i don’t really remember a special gift. I did enjoy making the nativity scene though.
If you haven't been following the Interstellar magazine, I've added a lot of functionality since the last thread here, including views for magazines/users/domains, better navigation for wider screens, QoL additions (like the @ button to reveal originating domain, inspired by Artemis), and a lot of different bug/functionality...
while a lot of people know about it, there's still many who don't know about RenderDoc, an open-source stand-alone graphics debugger, you can use it with any engine that uses Vulkan, DirectX11/12, and OpenGL. Can be a lifesaver sometimes to know a bit more of what's going on under the hood, either custom or proprietary engine. https://renderdoc.org/#gamedev
If I was told I had only a week to live I would email everyone I know and tell them that if they didn't forward the email to ten people I would die shortly.
