"The Left Needs a Spiritual Renaissance. So Does America." - I totally agree with this. The progressive left is currently restrained by a generation of aging neoliberal centrists who are more interested in salvaging the status quo than making necessary radical changes to our failing system. I have hopes that California’s Gaven Newsom or Katie Porter will emerge as a new generation of party leaders. Michigan’s Gretchen Whitmer is also an emerging leader. Contenders like Abrams & O’Rourke have had two chances each and lost. Their time is over. https://www.thedailybeast.com/the-left-needs-a-spiritual-renaissance-so-does-america?via=ios

They’re just NOT getting it folks as G7 alarms climate activists over support for gas investments - Fossil fuels and resource extraction are killing the planet, it’s so obvious from recent scientific inquiry and research. We MUST intervene substantially NOW to stem the significant damage being done and to reverse really, really dangerous trends. Extinction is on the table, mass climate migration, oceanic disruption, sea level rise, and a reordering of nature is in the works. As of today, it does not look like we will be prepared - even at a minimum. https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/g7-brings-gas-investments-back-temporary-solution-dismay-climate-activists-2023-05-20/

Ocean dangers toot: Some serious earthquake activity over the last two days in the remote South Pacific. and region. Two major, high amplitude tremors, a Tsunami alert for the first, and some aftershocks. It’s only natural that Mother Nature (capitalized with intent) will try to balance a seriously unbalanced Earth, to restore some kind of homeostasis in the face of relentless attack and degradation by greedy, for-profit corporations and corrupt governments full of politicians profiteering for their share. No direct cause-effect implied but you get the point. I read today that Killer Whales, Orcas, are training themselves to attack boats after one was injured in European waters. Enough is enough. Let’s not turn the whole planet against us.

How is impacting Europe’s Olive Garden. lovers take note. Economist Adam Tooze reminds us that though are often associated with Greece and Italy, it is that is currently Europe’s olive garden. And Spanish Olive growing regions are under increasing threat due to . The last few summers are evidence of that fact. Tooze says: “Longer term climate forecasts are even more devastating. Changes in temperature, evaporation, soil PH and the reduction in rainfall in the autumn are predicted to drastically shrink the regions of Andalusia that are suitable for cultivation of any of the well-known olive varietals…” Just one more casualty in an ever-increasing list of future challenges/disaster we’re going to face for our own lack of commitment and action.

These ladies from Louisiana bring it, a definite Eastern European vibe as they sing in Bulgarian and have heavy folk and earth-music influences. This is some powerful stuff, strong female voices and harmony evoking some serious intensity. Haunting fiddle, drums, bass and accordion make the perfect background. https://youtube.com/watch?v=ZMIiR0u279I&feature=share

Two great groups jam at my favorite festival held annually on Nova Scotia’s beautiful - best venues, best music, best locals, best drives and a great after show bash at the Gaelic College nightly. All the greats have played there, but the locals often steal the show. The Rankin Family, the Beaton Sisters, the McGillivrays, the MacIssacs, the Barra-McNeils, the list of local notables goes on-and-on. https://youtube.com/watch?v=7npkGfFhO3o&feature=share

Elon Musk Concedes Humiliating Defeat - He got it wrong, way wrong. But will a new CEO who his core users already hate save the sinking birdsite? Personally, I don’t think so. My best scenario is that gets so frustrated with the platform and politics in general he decides to stick to innovation, space and EVs. If he is to survive his own hubris, that’s where he belongs. But narcissists rarely might the correct choice. https://www.thestreet.com/social-media/elon-musk-concedes-humiliating-defeat

If you enjoy - - energetic and just an overall good times and you don’t already know Cape Breton Island’s Beaton sisters, have I got a treat for you. My Celtic Music playlist (one of 19 on my YouTube channel) has well over 300 songs and this particular live performance is one of my all time favorites. There’s a long and heart warming story behind Cape Breton fiddle playing, but that is grist for another post on another day. For now, just listen to this! https://youtu.be/xCSk5waVkxI
