I'm really tired of the holier-than-you people on the Fediverse!

No, Threads is not full of trolls and evil people just because Meta is evil. Threads is full of people who are not terminally online like we are. This is idiotic to want to block Threads by default. If anything let's show them there is another way.

No, the big Mastodon instances are not full of trolls and evil people just because they're the big instances. They're full of people who are into the Fediverse but for reasons that are theirs have no time, energy, or interest to join smaller instances. This is idiotic to want to block such instances. If anything let's teach them about smaller instances.

And right now, I see people building bridges with BlueSKy and I see very negative reactions from some people about that. Well... No, BlueSky is not full of trolls and evil people.

I'm so fucking annoyed with this bullshit attitude.

Honestly, if your response is "don't federate" every single fucking time, have you thought for a second that maybe, just maybe, you are in the wrong place? Fedi fucking verse. It's in the name.

If you don't want to communicate with people who are different from you, you're honestly no different from the people you are calling names. Please go to your instance that's defederated from everyone else, or even better, go on a closed Discord or something.

Fuck, I barely finished my second coffee and I'm already annoyed.

I finally got to watch The Marvels.

What a lovely and delightful movie.
It was so fun and yes, exciting.

I don't understand why it got such hate...

(No, sadly, I understand... three female leads, two POC among them, plus all other characters are POC too... I hate White America sometimes)

Anyway, I'm such a fan of these three...

And that mid-credit scene. A few months ago, I said that those scenes were getting tiresome and too gimmicky.
Well....I screamed for that one. I literally screamed.
This is the scene I've been waiting for so many years... I know I need to wait a few more years for the pay-off, but still... It happened!

I'll start. It's in Twin Peaks.
I don't want to spoil, but it involves a couch and Bob.

I may have watched it a dozen times, but it terrifies me every single time. There is some dark magic involved in that scene, I'm telling you.

Seriously, if you haven't watched Twin Peaks by now.... drop all that you're doing and go watch Twin Peaks.

He can elicit all the feelings imaginable in his movies.

It's one of the reasons I love Twin Peaks with a passion. You experience pretty much all of them throughout the series and the movie.

I so don't want to care about US politics right now (or really, anything from the US that's not a movie or a TV show), and infuriates me that the whole stability of the world or even its future itself hangs in the balance (hello climate emergency) of that stupid election...

I can't even wish for the country to collapse and become irrelevant, because it means that the power vacuum will be filled by China (it's already happening, but it will speed up the process in very unpleasant ways) and very probably Russia in Europe because the EU has been unable to become a united entity.

Running an open Fediverse server is a high risk, low reward endeavour.

If you run it as a public service, it’s financially draining and opens you up to legal liability.

And even if you properly deal with money and liabilities, someone out there will hate you anyway because that’s just how it goes.

Last year, I must have spent $2,000 keeping various projects afloat. In the end, these projects just pissed people off. So lesson learned.

The only servers I’m now supporting are my family’s servers. They are not open to the public.

@atomicpoet Thanks for the tips. I've been thinking about running my own instance for quite some time, but also opening it to my friends (but not to strangers) and it's food for thought.
Although, now I need to see what will emerge from this weekend's news concerning Firefish (as I wanted to open a Firefish instance).

(and if I may, any "official" statement about the future of firefish.city?)

And on a side comment, I hate federation wars so much, now I also need to think about what to do with my Mastodon account because my instance that I love(d) has decided that the big three instances (mastodon.social .online and .world are not good enough and should be limited)

I've been interested in Plemara/Akkoma too, but if I keep on with my idea of opening the server to friends, I'd like to make use of the channels and chat function Firefish has, I'm not sure Plemora has something similar.

But right now, I'm waiting and seeing what's happening with Firefish and staying put here as long as you're keeping this instance running.
I hope the handover is not a death warrant but on the opposite a revival.

The Traitors is such an amazing show.

I started watching it as a filler between two seasons of Survivor (the best TV game show ever) and wow... It started a bit slow, but once it gets its stride... Oh boy...

Imagine. It's like a giant game of mafia/werewolves taking place in a Scottish castle and it's hosted by Alan Cumming who is the most over-the-toppish fabously host on TV ever.

Seriously, if you like social games, Alan Cumming, Scotland, reality TV (but the good one, the competitive one, not the fabricated drama one) watch this show.

Thank you @realityblurred for making me watch. I'm up to date with Season 2, and these past two episodes were on the same level as the best episodes of Survivor.

Yesterday, I spoke about the Communist Party of China's harassment of overseas Chinese. This should be common knowledge, but it's a concern that's too often dismissed.

Well, Canada just deported Jing Zhang, a woman who works for the PRC-run Oversea Chinese Affairs Office for her engagement with "target groups".

I'm glad the Canadian government is finally clamping down on this because it's been getting out of hand!

@atomicpoet I think not enough people know about this, about the literal "police stations" the PRC has in many countries to control and harass Chinese citizens and more.

The way the West is mostly ignoring all the things the PRC is doing and the way it's advancing its pawns is terrifying. It will not end well.
