TIL that #Polish and #Lithuanian have both taken the transcription from #Czech. Yet each has a different one. Polish took it from Old Czech. But the Czech language reformed and when the Lithuanians wanted to distinguish their language from the dominant Polish during the national revival, they adopted the transcription from modern Czech. That is why Polish has "cz" and Lithuanian has "č".

@alcinoe I always advice volunteers to turn their attention to less cryptic languages when they turn their attention to Hungarian - other than you are born with it it is a hard nut to crack...
@alcinoe not impossible though. Remembering a course mate at uni who was actually studying Hungarian and could come up with some real Hungarian words (historically originated in Transylvania) I never heard of and couldn't make sense of 😀
Slovak activists collected over 2.6 million euros ($2.8 million) for the #Czech ammunition initiative for #Ukraine in five days after the Slovak government refused to participate.
Slovak citizens started their campaign "Ammunition for Ukraine" on April 16 to raise additional funds for the Czech-led initiative of purchasing 500,000 155 mm shells and 300,000 122 mm shells outside of Europe to provide Ukraine with them.
