What if you don't like chess? Seems a better feature would have been the ability to have any website pinned open while you browse the net...

@chestas I haven't had a chance to really get a sense of the struggle, or delve into the games deeply yet. After a typically conservative title match start I was very impressed with Lei, who seemed extremely well prepared and supremely confident, while Ju appeared to be oddly the opposite. Q1: I am unsure how the rule of threefold repetition works exactly in the FIDE Laws of Chess. I want to know when 2 positions are the same.
Consider this example:
In position A, white has all castling rights but cannot execute them because the path is blocked. In pos. B, white has no castling rights but everything else (pieces, en passant status, etc.) is identical. Are A and B the "same" position?

I was always (unironically) inspired by the fact that a particularly persistent pawn can sometimes be promoted to queen. I've never come anywhere near mastering the game (I'm not ANYONE's worthy opponent) but there are -so- few transformations of that type, even symbolic, in any cultural artifact. But now they've ruined the game's appeal for me. #chess

Much like anything, if you totally immerse yourself in chess for a while, say a couple of months, you will just naturally jump levels. But most of us have lives that get in the way.
It's a common misunderstanding that because there's womens only chess, there has to be mens only chess (one that I'm seeing a lot on fedi from non-chess players right now). There's no rule that states this. It's just that it's such a mens dominated sport that it often looks like it on the highest level.

Yes! When I started playing after 1.e4 e5, all the decent players just played Ruy Lopez. Then in the 1990s all sorts of gambits and other systems were played. Now, mostly back to the Ruy as the other openings are getting refuted.
@chestas This is something I have to remind myself a lot. Probably not going to see 20 moves to theory at my level so it really pays to know why something works a d what to do when my opponent deviates.

Almost a year since I started playing and I've finally hit 600 #ELO.
I've seen some IMs say that the 'hell wall' in #chess is around 600, and my play is highly volatile depending on how tired/well/hungover I am, so I'm not expecting to get much better quickly.
I'm not sure what to aim for next. Double my rating in the next year? Hit 1,000 by end of the year? Maybe six months? Something like that.
