pawb. Mae hi'n gwlypach na siwt Rishi Sunak tu allan. A tipyn bach tu mewn, achos twll yn ein to. Dyn ni'n mynd i'r gweithdy cymunedol. Dw i'n mynd i dechrau gwneud carn bwyell.

everyone. It's wetter than Rishi Sunak's suit outside. And a little bit inside, because of a hole in our roof. We are going to the community workshop. I'm going to start making an axe handle.

suearcher,
@suearcher@toot.wales avatar

pawb. Dwi'n mynd i'r gwaith un fuan, wedyn, efallai, coffi ar y caffi. Ond, mae hi'n bwrw glaw, wrth gwrs.

everyone. I'm going to work soon, then maybe a coffee at the cafe. But, it's raining, of course.

#GoodMorning everyone. I'm going to work soon, and then, maybe, a coffee in the community cafe. And, go to the tip with an old oven.

everyone. We're going shopping this morning, and then, maybe, more tidying and sorting.

suearcher,
@suearcher@toot.wales avatar

@NormanDunbar

We shifted a dozen black bags and two suitcases of my late father in law's clothes to the charity shop yesterday and a car load of stuff to the tip. Hoping to shift some more things today.

NormanDunbar,
@NormanDunbar@mastodon.scot avatar

@suearcher 😟 MrsD and I did similar when MrsD's mum died a year ago. Lots of charity bags! Also, her fridge, in the care home, was full of unopened bags of sweets. Those went to the other residents, as did some of her clothes.

suearcher,
@suearcher@toot.wales avatar

pawb. Dyn ni'n mynd i'r siopa, ac wedyn, i'r gwaith ym Manceinion. Gobeithio, bydd hi ddim yn bwrw glaw...

@suearcher @NormanDunbar almost as rare as a dry day in Swansea!

NormanDunbar,
@NormanDunbar@mastodon.scot avatar

@epistatacadam @suearcher I have a friend in North Wales, who used to live in Tal-y-Bont now Bethesda. I used to get letters from him, back in the day, wrapped inside the envelope in polythene bags.

I asked him about this, and he said "Because it's always raining in North Wales"!

@nic@toot.wales avatar

Cwestiwn eitha cyffredin yn y dosbarth yw “Beth yw ‘depressing’ yn Gymraeg?”

Dw i’n tueddu dweud “mae pobl yn defnyddio’r gair Saesneg”, ond mae hynny’n ddiog ar fy rhan i, yn enwedig pan mae pethau fel hyn yn @geiriadurGPC:

Codi pych arnaf:

Ar lafar yn nwyrain sir Gaerf. a’r cyffiniau i fynegi cas at rywbeth, ‘Mae’n hala’r pỳch arna’ i’, ‘Mae’n codi pech arna’ i’. Clywir pỳch yn y Gogledd fel ebd. i fynegi dirmyg neu ddiflastod; hefyd yn y ff. pach.

nic,
@nic@toot.wales avatar

Tra mod i wrthi yn darganfod geiriau newydd:

arweddlyn (eg.)

Cwrw tywyll wedi ei wneud o frag du, porter:

porter (ale)

—————

Erioed wedi’i weld yn y gwyllt, ond mae’n enw llawer gwell na’r “Dirty Dai” sydd ar gwrw tywyll Brynhoffnant, neu “Darkheart” Mantle.

Yn fy mhrofiad i, y rhai sy'n llwyddo ‘croesi'r bont' wrth yw'r rhai sy’n:

(1) defnyddio eu Cymraeg y tu allan i'r dosbarth, ac yn wneud hyn yn gynnar

(2) cwrdd â’u cyd-ddysgwyr rhwng y dosbarthiadau, ac yn y gwyliau

Beth yw'ch profiad chi, fel dysgwyr neu diwtoriaid?

(Cyfieithiad yn yr ymatebion…)

18+ nic,
@nic@toot.wales avatar

In my experience, those who succeed in 'crossing the bridge' when are those who:

(1) use their Welsh outside of the classroom, and do so early on

(2) meet their fellow students between classes, and during the holidays

What is your experience, as learners or tutors?

richardnosworthy,
@richardnosworthy@toot.wales avatar

@nic ie siarad, siarad, siarad yw'r cyfrinach, a pheidio bod ofn. Mae 'na rôl i siaradwyr hefyd i ddweud 'reit, ti'n dysgu Cymraeg nawr so dyna'r iaith rhyngddon ni bellach'. Ro'n i'n ffodus i gael pobl fel 'na yn y gwaith. Ond hefyd mae'n anodd iawn dysgu trwy un wers wythnosol yn unig(fel dwi'n neud gyda Ffrangeg). Roedd gwneud cwrs preswyl Llambed yn game changer.

suearcher,
@suearcher@toot.wales avatar

pawb. Dydd brysur heddiw! Dw i wedi bod i'r gwaith, ac i'r siopau, ac mae gen i gacen yn y ffwrn. Dim sgwrs Cymraeg Skype heddiw, achos, dyn ni'n mynd i Gymru ar y penwythnos, i ymweld fy ffrind a chael sgwrs Cymraeg yn fyw!

Mae'r meddyg wedi bod, a mae o'n mynd i drefnu amdano fo i fynd i'r ysbyty. Rhaid i ni aros am neges am yr ambiwlans.

The doctor has been, and he is going to arrange for him to go to hospital. We must wait for a message about the ambulance.

@SaraRassner Och, dw i’n dysgu criw heno sy’n defnyddio’r ddau fersiwn! (Dau ddosbarth Zoom sy wedi’u huno.)

(Dim ond nawr dw i’n nabod ti, o’r llun ar dy gyfri arall! 👋)

SaraRassner,

@nic Dechreuodd fy nghwrs i gyda Fersiwn 1 ond mae Fersiwn 2 gyda hanner o fyfyrwyr, felly rhaid i diwtor yn dweud "ar dudalen xxx mewn hen lyfr ac ar dudalen yyy mewn llyfr newydd" bob tro.

suearcher,
@suearcher@toot.wales avatar

Galw oer ar y ffôn eto heddiw. Dwi'n meddwl wnaeth o deall "Iawn", a "Nage", ond wneath o ddim un deall "Dwi ddim yn perchnogi ty, dw i'n byw mewn ogof mewn cae yng Ngymru", hyd yn oed pan nes i ailadrodd.

Cold call on the phone again today. I think he understood "Okay", and "No", but he didn't understand "I don't own a house, I live in a cave in a field in Wales", even when I repeated it.

O’r bobl sy’n fy nilyn, neu‘n gweld hwn rhywle arall (fel @cymraeg neu ), sut fyddech chi’n disgrifio’ch hunan?

@nic @cymraeg be am siaradwr newydd?

cris,
@cris@toot.wales avatar

@nic ydy,
ac ar ben hynny mae gormod o bwyslais ar "meistroli" beth sydd yn y llyfrau cwrs yn hytrach na deall a chynhyrchu "Cymraeg pobol y cwm" oherwydd targedu llywodraethol i ddangos "gwerth ariannol".
Pan ro'n i'n gweithio fel tiwtor, Unwaith bues i'n dysgu y wers "answyddogol" ar "smo fe, smo hi, so nhw, sain, wsti t'mod" ac ati, bu pobol yn fy nosbarth yn dechrau gwylio lot mwy o S4C ac yn wella yn exponentially.

@drunkenmadman I was kind of joking, but for a while there was quite a backlash against “cutesy” neologisms in Welsh, especially popty-ping, which seemed to feature in every “10 Fun Welsh Words You Can Learn Today" listicle that the Western Mail published on a seemingly monthly basis.
