I've just watched the Plainly Difficult video on the 1985 Bradford City Valley Parade fire.
I'd been at that ground about a week prior for something unrelated to football. I wasn't at the match on the day but could see the fire from the distance. The memory still upsets me almost 40 years later.
The ironic thing was that the match was the last of the season and the stadium was due to be demolished the next week
Evening all, very long week this week so not had chance to be on at all. I went to Bradford to do some errands and on the way back to the car park I saw the sky turning a nice colour so dashed up to the top storey to capture this, looking dowd Broadway towards the town hall. I hope you've had a good week and enjoy the weekend ahead! #bradford#city#yorkshire#westyorkshire#landscape#photo#photography#bluehour#sunset#dusk#olympus#redsky
Another from the weekend. by late afternoon the mist was moving it, the cold was getting more biting and light was falling. I shot this, I had in my head this image in mono but, when i converted it and worked on it I realised that colour was better and better reflected the scene as i saw it. #snow#winter#bradford#yorkshire#westyorkshire#photo#photography#path#track
A throwback to Nov 2017 for #WoodlandWednesday: a pic of our old dog Daisy in the woods behind where we used to live on the border between #Bradford & #Leeds.
While we love where we live now, we very much miss all the woods of the Aire Valley, but especially the ones between Calverley & Apperley Bridge. We walked in them nearly every day and watched them change with the seasons for 11 years. Daisy loved paddling in the streams, swimming in the canal and .. um, maybe chasing the odd squirrel 😆
Evening all, not been on for a while, had a couple of trips up to Hartlepool and Cambridgeshire. Also finishing off my 2024 Calendar which is now in production. I do hope youve all had a good week so far! Here's one from my recent visit to Judy Woods. I loved this fallen timber though angles were tight to shoot in. #landscape#bradford#autumn#fall#trees#yorkshire#photo#photography
Had a Pizza Pieces in Bradford for lunch. Been going there for 25+ years or so now. As good as it ever was! Enjoyed it too much to stop and take any photos so here's one from 2018 instead #bradford#pizza#yorkshire
Bonus 2016 photo of me wearing an extremely limited edition Pizza Pieces staff t-shirt. @louisa_ happened to be in there as they took delivery of the first ten ever made and was cheeky enough to tell them how I'd been going there for decades and would love one and they gave her it! #bradford#pizza#yorkshire
Yesterday I went into more local woodland (Heaton woods) to see what colours there were. It didn't look too bad really. This road is very narrow but used to be busy. However the counciled close it a couple of years ago and now won't reopen it which is great news and nice to walk along it in quietness #autumn#fall#bradford#yorkshire#road#landscape#photo#photography
Evening all how are you ? Busy week this week so not had chance to get online much. After work I stopped off at Chellow Dene to see how the trees were looking. I don't think they are quite at their best yet but i did at least manage to get this. HAve a great weekend all #autumn#fall#yorkshire#bradford#photo#photography#olympus#landscapephotography#landscape
Evening all how are you? I spent a day or two up in Hartlepool but on Saturday I went to Judy Woods in South Bradford. The colours were beautiful and I stumbled on this amazing spot. A tree had fallen across the banking spanning the stream and the leaves were all autumnal.
It gave a beautiful canopy over the stream, I took this as a slow shutter, though I did use PL, ND grad and sunset grad to take this #autumn#fall#yorkshire#bradford#photo#photography#landscape#landscapephotography
(To make, just add a #Horse's severed head, a pole and some #Runes. Not to be confused with the #Vindgapi, which uses a #Ling#Fish head instead, and which is used to summon storms.)
Next, a real-life 'poison candy' case, all thanks to adulteration and human stupidity.
"...A handful of sweets is as synonymous with #Halloween as a spooky costume or a ghoulish #pumpkin. But on 31 October 1858, this normally harmless treat killed several children, causing panic across #Bradford and a rapidly rising death toll. This is how a mix-up at a pharmacy, rooted in trying to save a few pennies on sugar, rocked #Victorian#Britain and changed #UK laws..."
'tribute to a fallen giant' Went for a walk in the woodland in bradford today. I planned on spending an hour there, ended up being 6 ! As i was looking around I saw this dead tree, just laying on the ground and surrounded by fellow trees . IT felt (in my mind) that they were all watching over it, the rightmost tree with its 'autumnal arm' reaching towards it.
I know its my imagination but still I wanted to capture the scene as I saw it in my head. #fall#autumn#landscape#landscapephotography#bradford#yorkshire#photo#photography#tree#trees
Evening all how are you? I just went to Lister park in Bradford this afternoon. So glad I did as i came across this little stream. Thankfully I had my wellies in the car as I had to stand in the stream to shoot this. Even better there wasnt' a breath of wind so shot this at 1second #autumn#fall#landscape#yorkshire#westyorkshire#photo#photography#sony#bradford
Evening all. This week has been really busy so not been able to get on here much or even go out. I did manage to go out yesterday, just a quick walk around Horton Park. I always love this tree, so colourful, managed to get an okay shot of it i guess #autumn#fall#yorkshire#bradford#photo#photography
Popped back home to Bradford this morning for Asian breakfast at Sweet Centre. Channa puri and desi tea. So good. Still not found somewhere like it in Huddersfield.
