If you don’t have the gun companies trying to put a gun in everyone’s hands, people can just ask another person to move out of their driveway.

@Snowshadow He survived which is, I hate to say lucky, but a better outcome than most. Very awful, though, and something my own future voter has concerns about.

"A study recently published in the Journal of the American College of Surgeons found that states that restricted abortion access from 2018 to 2020 had a 75 percent higher rate of peripartum homicide...than states without restrictions...Firearms were used in 63 percent of all peripartum homicides. These statistics underscore the connection between reproductive rights, domestic violence and gun violence in the United States."

"Almost a third of US adults believe there would be less crime if more people owned guns, according to an April 2021 Pew survey. However, multiple studies show that where people have easy access to firearms, gun-related deaths tend to be more frequent, including by suicide, homicide and unintentional injuries.

It is then unsurprising that the US has more deaths from gun violence than any other developed country per capita."

Criminal prosecution is not a cure-all to accidental child-deaths, but this doesn't pass the smell test:

"this case was not a violation of that law and that the adults in the home are believed to have taken precautions to keep the weapon out of reach."

I'm sorry, but if a 3-year old can defeat your guns' security measures, you have NOT taken precautions.

Today in U.S. 65% of gun owners have at least one unlocked firearm, which can lead to devastating outcomes: 8 children & teens are unintentionally injured or killed due to an unlocked or unsupervised gun in the home every day.

Maybe it's just because I'm former military but the absolute lack of muzzle awareness in literally every pop culture entertainment thing is so ridiculous.

If realism were factored in in the tiniest amount there would be soooo many dead or faceless characters from accidental miss fires. It's damn near rage inducing.

Say what you will about gun control, at the very least we could foster a safer gun culture if we must have one.
