«Et si, au fond, les jeunesses occidentales parvenaient à mettre en crise, par les mobilisations sur les campus, la muraille de fer militaire et diplomatique forgée par les États-Unis de Joe #Biden et le Premier ministre israélien?»
TikTok CEO #ShouZiChew has said the company will take the fight against the new law to the courts, but some experts believe that for the #US#SupremeCourt, national security considerations could outweigh #FreeSpeech protection.
The historical precedents are becoming more overt. In 1969, #Harvard called in the #police to clear #AntiWar protesters, as #Columbia had done a year earlier. Both events produced pictures of bruised and bloodied students.
I have to say, having an unknown piece of electronics begin smoking aggressively is a damn effective way to end an otherwise lovely chat between Randall Munroe and @pluralistic. Gotta remember that one for the next time I want to get out of a meeting.
Lovely that you and Randall could chat with us today @pluralistic (and @Zittrain as MC plus @lessig and I think @schneier were there too? Did I miss anybody on here who attended?) #harvard
This coming April 27th I will be giving a presentation at the Harvard Divinity School's Program for the Evolution of Spirituality on confronting White supremacy in Heathenry. It is part of a larger conference on alternative spiritualities engaging in our colonial and decolonial contexts with lots of presentations scheduled that I highly recommend.
The best part is this conference is free to attend, both in-person and online via Zoom.
Crimson newspaper tries very hard to make this a story about two members of Harvard's student govt resigning in protest over an allegedly shady BDS vote.
Astute readers may notice, however, that the actually newsworthy items are: that BDS is overwhelmingly popular with the Harvard student body; that an anonymous ballot is neither unprecedented nor undemocratic, especially at a time when doxxing is a serious threat to student speech and safety; and that anti-BDS members resigning in protest is an implicit endorsement of doxxing the remaining participants in the secret ballot.
I also have to laugh at the scare quotes in the article's title around 'Illegal Israeli Settlements,' as if their illegality was even a matter of dispute.
