Elon Musk is threatening to end his $44 billion agreement to buy Twitter, accusing the company of refusing to give him information about its spam bot accounts.

#Twitter Inc has been hit with another lawsuit stemming from the recent purging of half its workforce, this one accusing the social media company of disproportionately targeting #female employees for #layoffs.

The proposed class action filed late on Wednesday in San Francisco federal court said that after Twitter was taken over by Elon Musk, the world's richest person, it laid off 57% of its female workers compared to 47% of men.

McCarthy is like the of , while Sussman & Ableson are his & Engels.

"Means of abstraction", "means of combination"... substitute the dialectical method with the substitution method...

...they were brewing up a revolution, and they knew good & well what they were scheming.

rml,

@simon_brooke Capital is, ultimately, a book about #unemployment. If there is a teleology in Marx, it is a teleology of #layoffs, that what employment produces is ultimately, and necessarily unemployment.

Marx hypothesized bouts of mass unemployment as the moment when labor may unite against the division of labor and overthrow the state, but he didn't think it would be a necessary occurrence. The deterministic stageist Marxism of the 2nd international should be considered vulgar Marxism today.

🎈 Microsoft exec tells employees to make stock price go up to increase their pay

"an employee asked leadership what the rationale was behind not providing raises for employees given that Microsoft’s net income in the most recent quarter increased 9% year-over-year. Microsoft is also pouring massive amounts of money into A.I. technology and on acquisitions such as the pending $69 billion purchase of Activision Blizzard."

Combined with bad & post- realignment(s) of , for many employers this now means they're losing control of (& access to) workers' tacit knowledge, experience & loyalty;

they may find these ' attributes were more central to the business' success than they realised!

Red Hat's decision to lay off 800 employees, despite being a profitable company, is disheartening. With executives not taking pay cuts, the burden of this decision is not shared equally. I stand in solidarity with the affected workers and encourage us to challenge the capitalist logic that prioritizes profits over people. Let's support each other and build a more equitable future.

🚧 Red Hat layoffs spark calls to unionize, CEO wades in

「 The message asks: whether executives have taken a pay cut; what steps the company took to fix its finances "before deciding to leave 4 percent of us jobless;" and to explain "why a company as profitable as Red Hat is followin other tech companies in meritless layoffs." 」

If you’ve been laid off, please let me tell you something.

The best chances for landing your next gig are not through LinkedIn, Indeed, or anything like that. It’s through the people you’ve worked with before.

Start there. Keep checking in with them periodically. Don’t worry that you’ll be a bother, because they’d want the same from you.

And please, PLEASE be gentle on yourself. Job hunting and interviewing is hard and a deeply flawed, chaotic process.

This worked well last time so I'll try again!

My friend is a lead mobile developer (primarily Ionic) and his company just got bought. Fun times right? Well no, it's payday tomorrow and the new owners have said nobody is getting paid, but please still come in to work... Think it's time to move on!

He's UK based, super dedicated and looking for fully remote positions. Who can help me get him ?!

The senior management at #FiveThirtyEight is out as part of Disney's latest cuts. This includes #NateSilver, whose contract expires soon, along with the underlying models and data that power the website.

Screenshot of tweet from Clare Malone (@ClareMalone): More on the @FiveThirtyEight news: Nate Silver is out when his contact expires (soon), & the models (election/sports) that are licensed to Disney will see the expiration of their license term when Nate's contract expires. So...that's basically the data that drives the site.👀

Also, my heart goes out to any Red Hatter impacted by today's #RedHat #layoffs.

Layoffs absolutely suck. They suck for the people let go, they suck for the morale of the company remaining, they all around suck. 😔

I met a contractor today who said that their recent affected mostly Full Time Employees, but spared contractors. This comment came from this person’s manager, who appeared to have had to lay off FTEs but not contractors in his org.

Any truth to this?
