I've been shifting focus at work, from performance engineering to observability, and that means learning a whole lot. More learning in public! First up: #loki. It's a databases for logs with some interesting design decisions that make it more performant than other logs databases. I know, I'm late to the party watching #Loki. I just wanted to say: The entire set design of the TVA is absolutely gorgeous and a real piece of art. All those incredible details, the set pieces (like computers, furniture, etc.), the colors, the typography. 😍
TIL how to enable the new Explore Logs app for #loki . Turns out the latest versions of Loki and #grafana don't work with it yet, so you have to specify the right versions and change a few other things in the Docker Compose config. It's so cool that this is open source and not Cloud-only.
My favorite story last night was that Production Designer #KasraFarahani was in the writers room when they were discussing the idea of having some mechanism that controlled the energy of the threads and that powered the TVA. #TomHiddleston said they were bouncing ideas around, and Kasra just sat quietly, and after about 20 minutes, he told them about the idea of a temporal loom and showed them a sketch of what became what was used in the show. #Loki#PaleyFest#PaleyFestLA#PaleyCenter /2
I'd heard the story before, but I also loved hearing #SophiaDiMartino talking about how Costume Designer #ChristineWada made her costume so that it was easy for her to breastfeed her baby.
We're releasing #loki 3.0 at #grafanacon today, and I have to learn the new features just like everyone! (But better, because I have to talk to people about them too…)

An electrical appliance in our kitchen refused to work for several days.
When all attempts to fix it had failed, we somewhat reluctantly acknowledged the presence of the Trickster archetype, which has the power to disrupt or ‘overthrow programs’ (according to Jung and Campbell).
The appliance now works.

Frustration could be defined as re-listening to @mikebrew and @Jayslacks over at @SuperSideshow talking about how #Sylvie couldn't be a #Loki variant cos she doesn't look like him and therefore couldn't have even branched off the #SacredTimeline! 😂
