Last week was a blast. Several times a year Nextcloud brings all employees from all 23 countries together for a week of co-working and team building. Great to meet all the new team members. This was awesome. Including a very memorable party on the spree! #Nextcloud#OpenSource
Just had a #DogWalkFlashBack to '94, the week I first arrived in Aotearoa. I installed Linux for the first time, on my desktop computer (486 dx2 66MHz, 32MB RAM, monitor was 800x600 pixels, common at the time). I remember the giddy feeling of realising that I had actual real multi-tasking, and I could log into my system from outside the Lincoln Uni campus. Plus I could log into my old account at UW (Seattle) & from it back into my desktop. Heady days. People came from all over campus to see it.
30 years later, I still feel fortunate every day to have this embarrassment of riches that is #libre | #FOSS | #openSource (I vastly prefer #Copyleft) software, & that I've been been able make it a viable, even prosperous careers. Because I know that if I can do it, others can too! More details: https://davelane.nz/my-open-history
@brainwane standup comedy keynote “So many workshops on how to get into open source but none on how to get out. Yeah some people aren’t laughing just going uh-huh.” #OpenSource#Python#PyConUS
We're inviting YOU! to our pyOpenSci sprint, happening Monday morning at PyCon!
All skill levels are welcome - and we mean that! We have something for everyone! Whether it's contributing to our guidebook, test driving a tutorial, or helping us with some of our technical CI and other challenges, there's a way for you to contribute to open source.
Learning about #numpy comics in the documentation summit . How can we make #opensource documentation more fun amd user friendly?! Do you have ideas? #pyconus@pyOpenSci
We are joined by Allan Jude to talk about what it’s like to run a company that develops and maintains open source software with a focus on upstreaming as much code as possible.
This is a small bugfix release, fixing some balance and spend/receiving issues (mostly reduced confusion + workaround for some broken Android keyboard apps that don't correctly listen to the list of allowed symbols).
It also contains various translation updates.
The update is available on #GitHub right now and will most likely be available on #IzzyOnDroid within 24 hours. It has also been sent to Google Play Open Testing for review.
As you're planning your time at PyCon US, definitely make time to chat all things community, Python, open source, and open science at the pyOpenSci Open Space!
You'll be able to chat with @leahawasser (and grab some pyOpenSci swag), and connect with the broader pyOpenSci community.
I'm handling sponsorships for this year's Perl and Raku Conference. Please share this far and wide so that we can get as many new sponsors as possible. ❤️
Everyone! If your #business depends on #Perl or #RakuLang please consider supporting the communities you rely on!
One good way to ensure a sustainable future for #OpenSource ecosystems like these, is to support active and fertile venues for learning and teaching these technologies.
Right now, you can help by supporting the Perl and Raku Conference, and later this year, the London Perl Workshop.
Is this relevant for you? Forward it to your manager! 💯
