The rail line between Edenbridge and Tonbridge will remain closed for at least two more weeks after a new problem was discovered with an embankment.
Trains have not been able to use the line since March 29 for a safety inspection which discovered the issue.
Southern have now stated the entire line from Redhill to Tonbridge now needs to be closed due to the extent of work required, with Buses replacing services
The derailment occurred when an eastbound train struck another eastbound train stopped on the same track.
An oncoming westbound train then collided with the wreckage that had careened onto the adjacent track.
Multiple cars left the track and were strewn across the southern bank of the river.
Parts of locomotives could be seen in or immediately adjacent to the river.
An unknown quantity of diesel fuel spilled into the river, and responders set up absorbent booms to collect it. #Norfolk#Southern called it a small diesel fuel leak “common when locomotives are involved” that was contained with the booms and would be “vacuumed out.”
A “minimal” amount of polypropylene plastic pellets from one car also spilled, according to the police chief.
A charming moment
"Ma'am you are plum purty"
A Southern journey
*A memory from my 20's. A cute little old man came up to me in a store and shyly said that to me. I thanked him and he went on his way. Growing up here, Ma'am is two syllables...lol
I just remembered something. My parents are so #Country#Southern & backwards that circa 2000 I had to tell them that "furniture can be oriental, but people are Asian".
To their credit, they listened and changed their vocabulary.
Tyler Childers wonders what would happen if the white mountain folk that he knows were faced with the same situation as many minorities.
"How many boys could they haul off this mountain
Shoot full of holes, cuffed, and laid in the streets
'Til we come in to town in a stark ravin' anger
Looking for answers and armed to the teeth
30 aught sixes, papaw's old pistol
How many, you reckon, would it be, four or five?
Oh, would that be the start of a long, violent history
Of tuckin' our tails as we try to abide?"
A book review I found on Youtube for a vampire book that heavily involves the gothic subculture and also takes place in the southern US (New Orleans and also Missing Mile, North Carolina). It does have a spoilery section, but they do warn you before it starts.
@tobi 😅 As a catchphrase Larry the Cable Guy, but it was definitely a #Southernism before. I always understood it as "Get 'er done", with the 'er almost being a variable capable of representing just about anything. Usually a job that needed doing. Clear as mud, right? 😂
On my new years eve hike I found floating islands in the sea.
Looks like we're getting faefolk for 2024, for better or worse, if I was a betting man my money would be on worse... 😂
