or rather you should be very careful when revisiting your childhood games. At least when you're as old as me ( >50 ) because 90% of the games you loved were exceptionally primitive and just bad. And you realize that when trying them again.
If you are just one generation younger, your childhood games are like Super Mario or something and that's... basically cheating. 😄

Received a Miyoo Mini Plus for my birthday a few weeks ago and I've been tuning it to perfection since then.
The fact is that I spend more time faffing about with these kinds of emulation devices than I do playing them.
I installed the preferred OS, OnionOS, refined the list of games to my Best Of, tuned my favourites list and am now scraping artwork for the selection menu.
There's still a bit more to do until it's in optimal running order but it's been fun and distracting getting it this far.

Maybe it's just me, but I've always found the classic Hungry Horace sprite to be very unsettling. There's something about its silhouette that disturbs me deeply.

I played it using GZDoom and my original Doom 2 wad file and all you do is drop the pk3 file onto GZDoom.exe and you're off to the Nazi-infested jungles of South America to search for the Lost City of Atlantis!
The Video Game History Foundation and the Software Preservation Network conducted the first ever study on the commercial availability of classic video games, and the results are bleak.
More than half (87%) of classic video games released in the United States are critically endangered -- unfindable and unplayable.
"Just 13% of video game history is being represented in the current marketplace. In fact, no period of video game history defined in this study even cracked 20% representation."
This is pretty messed up. The study just backs up what advocates of physical media have been saying for years.
