When people say that all superheroes are inherently fascist, they're ignoring the very real reasons superheroes were invented (mostly by immigrant Jews before and after WWII as a warning against fascism), and extremely specific examples of superhero antifascism like this.

There has long been an reluctance in and media to mention political topics. Other than 's original stories, political stances were verboten, back to a cameo in 1963.

But instead of being viewed as an endorsement of liberal democrat policies by Big Blue, it incorrectly established as a conformist & establishmentarian.

And as has taken over establishment politics, he is now silenced by "bipartisanship."

I read Girl Haven, a graphic novel by Lilah Sturges on my plane flight and oh gawd the feels. I wish teenage me had been able to read this. A fantasy land just for girls, except middle school student Ash is let in to the world his mother created. What does that say about him and who he is inside? Seriously y'all, it hit hard. 😭

The stars will tell you how to get your man. Unless of course you’re young, rich, and beautiful. Then, sadly, there’s no hope for you. 1971 cover by Tony DeZuñiga.

Early in 2023, I stood up an instance off my main domain to check out Mastodon and see if the rumors were true: did it really feel like early Twitter and the short lived ADN?

The answer is yes, it most certainly does, so I while I wanted to continue to engage and meet people,my domain kinda sucked and I never gave a proper .

Now I want to check out Calckey!

My name is Kevan and I'm kind of from all over the US, but I've been in since 2007.

I moved here for college and never left. I came to study and with the idea I'd and perform on .

None of those things panned out: I wound up with a degree in and and found my way into tech with (, ) and .

I thought for a long time I'd wind up in , but my stint running at BallotReady during the 2020 election—while the thing I'm most proud of professionally—broke me of that fantasy.

I'm current the VP of Product for a commerce focused . Fortunately, I work from home because this is loud AF.

, , , listening to on , reading and writing on fancy paper with a (mostly and ) are my hobbies. And I try to spend as much of my time with Toby, my (is a thing or do you all just use ?) as I can.

What’s this, a trade sale, $3 each? Fine, I’m only human. Cool reprints, JLA by powerhouses including a Morrison I haven’t read, Busiek and Rucka never fail, a Wolfman/Pérez classic, Ditko Captain Universe, Zdarsky Invaders, etc. etc.

Happy day to my Mastadon friends. Remember to go out and support your local shop today.

I took my daughter to my local comic book store and she had a blast. There were a ton of free all ages comics plus they had some awesome sales and I let her pick out some books.

Here's the problem.

Recent growth on mastodon.social is greater than the growth rate of November 2022.

But growth on other servers, like mstdn.social, has flatlined.

This has been confirmed to me by numerous Mastodon server admins.

Very concerning!

Growth of mstdn.social

AnneTheWriter1,

@ianp5a @zimzat @selea

When I first signed up in November, I had multiple groups I would love to have joined. I enjoy , , , and , and , and so on. I eventually threw my hands up and just went to mstdn.party, but with no more insight than by throwing darts at a dart board. I've since migrated here to the Universeodon instance.

At the time, signing up did make it sound like you needed to choose only one aspect of your personality. It was a big stumbling block to me, and kept me from signing up for a few days of deciding what to do.

It's easy for the initiated to forget how confusing and off-putting the idea of can be to the uninitiated.

I remember you, corny, low-budget, whitewashed-Jubilee-featuring Generation X failed pilot, I remember you. :blobcatuwu: 🤘

Thrilled to hear that the Zip team has reached their funding goal for this incredible work. 👏 Zip is a black and white British comic about imperfect superhumans, and (secretly) about disability.
