#BenAndJerrys have this wonderful post on their homepage 👏
Here it goes:
The #US Was Founded on Stolen #Indigenous Land—This #July4, Let’s Commit to Returning It
Ah, the Fourth of July. Who doesn't love a good parade, some tasty barbecue, and a stirring fireworks display? The only problem with all that, though, is that it can distract from an essential truth about this nation’s birth: The US was founded on stolen Indigenous land.
But what is the meaning of #IndependenceDay for those whose land this country stole, those who were murdered and forced with brutal violence onto #reservations, those who were pushed from their holy places and denied their #freedom?
I know people aren't lining up to see #fireworks photos, but I got a few solid shots from my little phone setup last night. I just wish I could have shot wider to get more folks on the ground.
Shot from the Xiaomi 13 Ultra at f/4.
The Conversation U.S.
(@TheConversationUS):
"This #FourthofJuly weekend, stop using #nationalism and #patriotism as synonyms.
🇺🇸Patriotism encompasses devotion to the country as a whole — including all the people who live within it.
🇺🇸Nationalism refers to devotion to only one group or people over others.

Charles Pierce says he finds it hard to be into the shibboleths now — life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. He writes:
"Liberty? A word that's been twisted beyond all reckoning. Moms For Liberty quote Hitler and strip school libraries. The Supreme Court makes a decision based on nothing, based on air, in which a woman refuses a service she doesn't provide to a gay couple that doesn't exist, all in the name of religious 'liberty.'"
Skye is watching the fireworks on TV (nice and quiet!) and we are all wishing our American friends a very Happy 4th of July! 🥰🇺🇸 #FourthOfJuly#July4th#Happy4thOfJuly
Hope everyone in the States has been having a happy and safe #FourthOfJuly !
After some much needed relaxation on the lake, it was time to get back to my current primary focus: writing!
Of course, I continue to find myself doing a lot of recent brainstorming and outlines using @notesnook ...like seriously, I updated my Obsidian install, but it just felt a bit more naural to keep writing it on Notesnook. Sooo nice for idea spewing 🙃 :bash: :homeassistant: #dev#writing#code
If the Founding Fathers were around today, I like to think I'd be blowing their gross putrefying zombie heads off their shoulders with a semi-automatic shotgun.
America's July 4th celebrations are coming to a close. In honor of the festivities, the A.V. Club has ranked 30 of the all-time greatest renditions of "The Star Spangled Banner." But which performance did they say was the best? Click through the slides to find the answer (we'll reveal it tomorrow).
